| Posted: | | | | So there is an update to the blu-ray Grindhouse set:
Running |Time - '291' confirmed by PowerDVD10 from start of play to end. (Complete Grindhouse films).
20 people have voted yes. There are other major changes too.
It has been a while since I have done any contributions but the Runtime is still based on the runtime of the actual feature right?
The actual feature of this set would be Theater Snipes/The Machete Trailer/Planet Terror/Theater Snipes/Ads/Fake Trailers (Werewolf Women/Don't/Thanksgiving)/Death Proof. That is what plays when you hit Play Movie from the main menu.
There is no way that the feature is now 4 hours and 51 minutes long. |

| Posted: | | | | I'm sorry Rory but PowerDVD is simply wrong in this instance. You've gotten a PM from me with some details, but since I now found this thread I'll take it here as well. First off, this is a title that is a bit tricky to measure the time of, since the title is in fact split into two separate pieces, due to the availability of a commentary and audience reaction track for Planet Terror, that is not available for Death Proof. As such, the timer on the player will reset at the end of Planet Terror. I'm sure you'll agree to that. With that in mind, below are a couple of screens that shows the title running time when Planet Terror is playing: From my Panasonic BDP-BD60: http://img169.imageshack.us/img169/5546/27102010.jpgFrom my Sony PlayStation 3: http://img179.imageshack.us/img179/2380/27102010002.jpg And this is the title running time when Death Proof is running: Panasonic: http://img827.imageshack.us/img827/3558/27102010001y.jpgPS3: http://img708.imageshack.us/img708/6609/27102010003.jpg As you can see, both players agree 100% about the time of the titles. Part 1 of the title runs for 1:31:08, part 2 runs for 1:40:04, which in turn combines to 3:11:12, or 191 minutes. I can back it up further if needed. I've also checked the actual files on the BD-disc, 00034.MPLS and 00035.MPLS. MediaInfo from those two files says the exact same: 00034 runs for 1:31:08, 00035 for 1:40:04. I don't include the lengthy printout of the data here, but can post it later if wanted. I've also checked several sources about the running time of the original movie, all of which lists it as 191 minutes. I've checked a lot of Blu-ray reviews of the movie as well, none listing anything but a running time of 191 minutes. |

| Posted: | | | | cartman76 is correct, the RT for Planet Terror is 1: 31: 08 and for Death Proof it's 1: 40: 04. He pointed me to a piece of software call MediaInfo. It was very informative. Thanks cartman76. Rory | | | DVD Profiler for iOS as of 3/5/2013 DVD Profiler for Android as of 5/17/2013 |

| Posted: | | | | I used my PS3 for the title sets too to double check the runtime. Since I don't have a BD- drive in my computer yet is that a valid source for checking running times for contributions? |

Since I don't have a BD- drive in my computer yet is that a valid source for checking running times for contributions? Yes I'd say it's a valid source for most contributions. Can't require all contributors to have a BD-ROM in their computer yet... I can think of very few cases where a visual confirmation from any Blu-ray player, possibly assisted by a photo of it, wouldn't be enough. It's only when there's a dispute as to the actual running time that checking with technical programs on a computer is required for verification. As in this case, I'm guessing the timer reset (the title consisting of two files instead of one, which is common on Blu-ray) confused some players, and needed confirmation by other means. |
