Hi,

I wanted to add my DVDs by scanner (CueCat), but the DVD Profiler is not responding, it doesn't show the EAN Code.

After a while, when I change to another window, the error message "WIN32 Error. Code:5. Zugriff verweigert" occurs.

Any idea? I have a few hundred DVDs and do not want to add them manually.

Regards

Try to open the standard windows text editor notepad.exe (Start->Programme->Zubehör->Editor)

Scan a barcode into it. What happens?

DVD Profiler has no special support for barcode scanners. The scanner needs to emulate the normal input of a keyboard (which the CueCat can do, many users here use it).

@All: Are there any specifics you have to know about the CueCat? Settings? Defaults? Anything that might explain why it doesn't scan into notepad?

From what I remember, the CueCat must be 'declawed'.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.

I picked up my declawed USB cue cat from bay for under $10 a couple years ago. That said, I find the 10 key faster (but not as fun).

If you have to declaw it yourself, it's not that hard...if I can do it, anyone can!  There's websites out there that go step by step with pictures that are easy to follow, too.

Even if the cuecat isn't declawed you should still see the encrypted text in notepad.  There could be a number of things that might not be setup right: are the USB ports turned on in the BIOS, does the red light on the cuecat light up, does the OS show the cuecat as an additional keyboard device in the device settings, is the num lock key on, or it could be a dead cuecat.  Also, what OS is Armada using?

Here's a pdf that provides a good summary on the usb cuecat along with the declawing procedure.

Is this error appearing specifically in DVDProfiler or does it surface in other Windows programs?  This appears to be a Windows Access Denied error which might be indirectly linked to the cuecat.

The USB ports work properly (I tried them all with a mouse) and the CueCat shows the red light. I am still using Vista Home but planning to upgrade to Windows 7 in the next weeks.

The num lock key was on when I used the CueCat.

The error message appeared in DVDProfiler, it tried to send automatically a report to Invelos, but that didn't worked due to HTTP-Error.

I'll try the greyhead-instructions tonight and will let you know, what happened

I have my num lock off by default so it was off whenever I used my CueCat.  Used it with Vista*32 and Win7*64

I did, however, discover that I've been holding the CueCat incorrectly after looking at the link rdodolak posted.
