| Posted: | | | | I can only reiterate what i have said many times before. We have one single programmer, he takes care of the main program, a long awaited DVDProfiler Plus, a mobile version, and an anticipated IPhone/IPad version. If he chooses to go droid that is his call, but one man can only do so much. From my viewpoint if he chose to develop a third portable platform, and the main program suffered because of it...then NO, that would be a very bad thing. | | | ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!! | Posted: | | | | Just below you have a forum for the DVDP mobile... Those request goes there. BTW a reason exist why an IPhone version is a possibility more than an Android version. This is a question of money return % for the developper... | | | Last edited: by Jimmy S |

Does make it look like he's strongly thinking about it. |

| Posted: | | | | I believe so too. | | | Unfortunately, I can't use DVDprofiler at the moment due to lack of a Windows computer. |

| Posted: | | | | And this is also what I understand...
BTW this topic had nothing to do in this section, this is a request for the mobile version and not DVDP. But since the moderator is pretty much AWOL this week the chance to see it move in the correct section is quite low... | | | Last edited: by Jimmy S |

No it wasn't he talked about Ken taking a cut from a some developer. That is exactly the opposite of the way it would work. Ken doesn't take a cut, he owns the program, the developer agrees to license FROM invelos and Invelos agrees to grant him a %, the developer does not drive the percentage of the cut. Exactly the reverse of what Phil suggested. Whatever Ken chooses to door believes he can do is his choice. My only concern as I stated is that he is only ONE man and just how much can he take on without making sacrifices to the main program...I don't know that answer and neither do you or anyone else. I am not interested in developing an Android app, and I gather that Ken is at the very least considering it, if not actively looking at it. If someone wants to develop it , then he should approach Ken directly and request a license to do so, then it's up to ken whether he wants to or not and just exactly what he would be willing to offer for the license (which he might also charge for, also upto him...not the developer. | | | ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!! Isn't tendering = call for bids? And if so, "for a % cut" would be the method of payment from Ken to the bidder. But you know what, it's not that important to argue over since it has nothing to do with us users anyway... | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

| Posted: | | | | Karsten: I agree, but then i didn't pick the argument. I explained the way i saw what Phil was saying, and still see it in exactly the same way,. Other users chose to pick an argument because they had a different viewpoint of what Phil said. In the circles that I run in the term tender is not used, we call it an RFP (Request For Proposal). My interpretation was that Phil believed a developer would have the upper hand and give Ken a % of the cut, when it would be the reverse. It is Ken that owns the program. And like I said my concern is at what point does Ken get stretched too thin, by trying to do this, that and something else, his new features list for the core program is huge at any given point in time already. If he can do an Droid app, more power to him, if he decides to let someone develop it under license to him...more power to him. Whatever works for him. I have no opinion of a potential Droid App. I just don't want to see such side issues affect development of the core program in a negative way. Don't forget and as we have already observed the natives tend to get restless after a new version has been out for about 6 months and the drums have started chattering again..<shrugs> | | | ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!! Exactly the reverse of what Phil suggested. He suggested that Ken 'tender'...I think he meant offer...the writing of the app, to an android professional for a percentage of the cut...meaning the android proffesional would get a percentage for writing the program. I am sorry if you didn't understand it that way, but five of us did, so I am comfortable in believing that is what he meant. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
