What to do if I attempt to update my collection and a suggested update is obviously wrong (at least according to the disc I am holding in my hand)?

Not only that, I had originally uploaded my profile of this disk to DVD Profiler database because the previous date was clearly wrong, but now apparently it has been superceded by the same incorrect information. Who aurhorized that replacement and how do I fix it?

Hi,
all updates to your profiles should appear on this website under "database/contributions/unvoted pending updates". There you can check the updates and vote according to the rules.
All updates are then decided on by staff from Invelos, who will probably decide based upon the contribution notes, the rules , the votes and their own knowledge.
The only way to fix wrong profiles is by contributing your own correct data (or of course waiting for someone else to do it, which may or may not happen).
Hope this helps.

Furthermore, if your own data are correct and you are worried about wrong updates, then you can lock your profiles or individual fields within the profiles.

Another thing you have to keep in mind. You need to be sure you have the original release of a title... and not a re-release. For the online the info for the original release is what stays. Any differences on a re-release needs to stay local only.

Also (since you gave no details)... are you sure what you see as wrong info isn't correct per the Controbution Rules? As there is times that something could seem to be right for the profile... but actually not be right per rules. Some things that comes to mind that such confusion could come from is The Title must come from the front cover (exact)... not the opening credits. So for example... the word Episode is not in many of the Star Wars releases.

Problem solved.  Thanks to suggestions in your replies and some further reading, I discovered that my mistake was trying to change parts of a Norwegian version to conform with my US based info, both versions having the same URL. And although my original changes worked locally, they were apparently rejected when I sent them in to "headquarters" and I never caught any explanation from headquarters to explain the rejection.  Incidentally, this was on the disc "Merle Haggard Live From Austin Tx." So I kept getting the old info when doing an update, as mentioned in my first post, which I would reject each time so as to keep my local data correct in my opinion.

My solution:  (hoping it sticks) was to click locally on "DVD - Change Locality", where I found the locality it was listed as Norwegian. I changed it to United States. VOILA! The disc data redrew and now is consistent with what I had been trying to update in the first place.

I had that type of problem recently with locality as well .. We should all take extra measures to be sure that locality is marked correctly .. is there a plugin for that??

I think the plugin to use is the Database Query. You can find it in the Downloads section.
