| Posted: | | | | I want to be able to do some personalisations of my collection whilst at work, if i do a full backup of the database, copy it to memory stick, download the app at work, import the database and then tdo the reverse to bring it home, are there any risks or problems that may occur?
title should be working from different locations... i cannot edit it. | | | _______________ Steve | | | Last edited: by sjp1966 |

| Posted: | | | | First to your PS: There is a penci icon next to the title where you can edit it. Now to your main question: No that works just fine, I do it the same way. But doing the backup and restoring it is time expensive. If you have one, use a File Sync program (I use Beyond Compare) and simply sync the database files directly. You'll find the database under <My Documents>\DVD Profiler\Databases\Default, unless you changed it yourself. | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

As DJ says there is no problem at all with this (I do practically the same thing all the time) except that a full backup and full restore is very time consuming. As an alternative to DJs suggestion, if you cannot use a file sync program, I suggest backing up without cover images (I personally also don't backup credit photos, gallery photos or reports FWIW) by using Custom Backup. For me (over 3000 profiles) this brings the file size down from 400MB to 7Mb and speeds up the process considerably. In my case it also means I can email the file since work locks out the USB ports from using USB sticks! Obviously you'll then have to do a 'download all cover images' the first time (or just the first time do a complete backup as you planned) and then just remember to download cover images for the few files that you add on one PC when you restore on the other.
