I would like a way to sort my DVD's that have numbers in the titles in numerical order.
Currently as an example:

2001: A Space Odyssey comes before 100 Rifles and 100 Rifles comes before 2 Fast 2 Furious.

I've played with adding 0 in front of the number and this is still an issue.  It seems that the program doesn't understand numerical places.  If this is a known issue I apologize but I searched for various subjects related to this and found none.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

In programming, each field is first defined a certain way to serve specific purposes (two examples being "Integer" which allows for numerical sorting and mathematics, and "String" which can be pretty much anything including random text but ignores rules that Integer will follow.) I mention this only because it explains the issue you are having. Although it looks like a sorting bug, it was the best way to define that particular field (so that letters and numbers are both allowed) but in turn ignores basic numerical sorting rules.

Concerning your issue, though, if you highlight any title and press CTRL+P it will bring up the "Personalize DVD" window. At the top of this is "Sort Title". The easiest method I found (since Sort Title does not ruin the look for your displayed titles) is to insert a character (like a dash) in front of the numbers so that the same number dashes and digits are equal to that of the largest number in your collection.

Instead of:

1
2
20
30
2001

try

---1
---2
--20
--30
2001

With the dashes acting as leading zeros (up to three of them since the largest number in this example has 4 digits), it should fix your problem.
If at first you don't succeed, skydiving isn't for you.

He who MUST get the last word in on a pointless, endless argument doesn't win. It makes him the bigger jerk.

I don't have very many DVDs with titles beginning with numbers, but here is what I'm doing with mine, and they sort numerically:

00003 Godfathers
00007 Faces of Dr. Lao
00007th Voyage of Sinbad
00012 Angry Men
00039 Steps
00042nd Street
02001: A Space Odyssey
02010: The Year We Make Contact
20000 Leagues Under the Sea

My highest number DVD is "20 Million Miles form Earth", so, I do exactly the same as you, except that I use a total of 8 digits for all numbers, e.g:

00000300
00001969
00010000 B.C.
20000000 Miles from Earth

This has been bugging for me a while and I've been trying different things to fix it with no luck so far.

I'll have to try this.
