Hi,

I have the latest version 3.6.1 (build 1392) installed but the program hangs on startup. The "eye" screen looks like everything is ok but then it just hangs. I have tried to uninstall and reinstall but no luck. I reinstalled a previous version 3.5.1 (build 1252) which starts fine, however with this version when I try to download the online database I get an error message once the download is complete saying that the file is a newer version and I need to upgrade.

I am using Windows 7 Home version. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Worth a shot...suspend your anti-virus program and see if it loads then. If it loads with it shut down, most of the time you can add it to the program's safe list.  Hope this helps!

Thanks, but I did try that, I even uninstalled the anti-virus program just to make sure but still no luck.

try to start it with holding down ctrl-alt-shift while the splash screen is visible. This prevents any plugins and other stuff from being loaded.

No luck with holding down the ctrl-alt-shift keys either. I have even tried a registry cleaner after uninstalling and before reinstalling again but it still hangs on startup.

Please try a database repair via Windows "Start -> Programs -> DVD Profiler -> Database Repair Utility" and see if this helps.
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

Perhaps a damaged layout?:

I guess not, if 3.5 works, but you could give it a try.
