| Posted: | | | | For the past several days - after not having connected to my online profile in some months - I am unable to get a connection to Invelos from within DVD Profiler. Neither to my own collection nor to check for updates [though I just saw I am running the latest release]. While trying to connect I got a 'Socket error 10030' [not quite sure the number is fully correct], which then couldn't be sent via automatic error report - as no connection to the Invelos server was possible.
Did I miss anything important? How to solve this?
[Edit] a) It's Socket error 10013. Access denied. b) I didn't change any settings in the firewall between last time it worked [beginning of May this year] and now. c) DVD Profiler is allowed to connect outbound and inbound. | | | Last edited: by Evo2Me |

| Posted: | | | | Looks like a firewall problem. Try turning that off, momentarily anyway. | | | Hans |

| Posted: | | | | Curiously it turns out that the firewall is the culprit, switching it off completely gives me access. Baffled - and currently no idea how to get DVDProfiler to connect with firewall switched on ...
[Edit] What a day ...
OK, which port does DVD Profiler use/expect? | | | Last edited: by Evo2Me |

Maybe we can help you with the required settings. | | | It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up! But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

| Posted: | | | | Scanning through some forums it seems that F-Secure has some severe problems with their 2010 version. Couldn't check yet, if there's a newer version (bugfix) of the main-program available, since F_Secure doesn't seem to publish such info on their homepage.
If the options of F-Secure allow you to set predefined general rules for applications try to give DVDProfiler the same rights as a browser would have.
Best option seems to be to completely uninstall F-Secure (WARNING!! Do so only by using the uninstall program you get from the F-Secure support, otherwise you might severely harm your system) and do a reinstall afterwards. If possible, set F-Secure into a "Learn"-mode (usually limited to one week) where it automatically allows all outgoing traffic and learns the necessary rules for this (WARNING!!Do so only on a known healthy system) | | | It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up! | Posted: | | | | I use Shaw Secure, which is just F-Secure re-branded. Shaw is my ISP and they provide it as part of my service. I haven't had any issues with the firewall and don't think I had to add it to any list or open any ports. I'm at work but I'll take a look at it when I get home. | | | HDTV: 52" Toshiba Regza 52XV545U AVR: Onkyo TR-707 Speakers: Paradigm Monitor 7 v6, CC-190 & Atom Monitors Subwoofer: Definitive Technology ProSub 800 BD/DVD: Oppo BDP-93 (Region Free) HD PVR: Motorola DXC3400 500GB w/ 1TB Expander BD/DVD/Game: 250GB PS3 Slim DVD/Game: 250GB XBox 360 Elite Special Edition (Black) Game: Wii Remote: Logitech Harmony One w/ PS3 Adapter WHS: Acer H341 Windows Home Server |

| Posted: | | | | DVD Profiler didn't give any trouble even with FS 2010 up until now [see above], it is set to connect freely. The specific error code I get [see above] is for ports, which can be set if one knows which port is used [as you made clear, DVD Profiler flexibly chooses what's available].
F-Secure deploys updates automatically in the background and is usually quite quick to fix problems; any mishap brought by FS to my DVDP connection, I gather, will be dealt with [IOW: for the time being it's just an annoyance].
Thanks for the help so far! |

| Posted: | | | | Thanks, Forum Moderator, good to know and have the port handy.
It seems there had indeed been something wrong with an update of F-Secure this week as not only can I connect to Invelos via DVD Profiler again - after having been asked to allow the connection -, other programs I have to allow anew, too, pointing to another update clearing older authorisations. |

| Posted: | | | | I had the same problem. But after I defined an entry for "dvdpro.exe" in f-secure under "settings - Network connections - Application control", everything was fine (out: accept; in: ask) |
