As we are adding more and more cast/crew it's coming to light that a few of them share the same Birth Year.


2 Ian Roberts were born in 1965.


An actress that was born in 1940. But I can't add the BY for both of them.

Of course this would only work when the complete birth dates was known, otherwise if only the BY was known for one of them. Then that would be entered for that one and the other would get the complete birth date filled in.


This way, for the rare times when they share the same BY, they both could be entered.

Just trying to work within the current system.

If Ken does away with the BY's totally, then they proposal is moot.


Personally when I can't find a BY for two+ actors that share the same name I use a system based loosely on the romon numerals.

So let's say I find two actors and IMDB lists them as IV and VI. I enter them locally as 1004 and 1006. The last two digits equals the roman numeral system.

For example there is a Bill Thompson who did voices for Disney films and was born in 1913. But there is another Bill Thompson who acted in Full Metal Jacket and Magnum PI. IMDB lists him as IV. So locally I enter him as 1004.

I use this system too, except that I make it 9904 and 9906 (in your examples above).

However, the idea to use birth date rather than birth year does not solve the problem always. I stumbled upon two instances of Robert M. Young, both born on November 22, 1924, one in New Yoirk, and one in Edinburgh. So back to the drawing board?
