| Posted: | | | | I've been trying to install 3.6.0 (1382) and keep encountering a fatal error during installation:
"Internal error: Failed to expand shell folder constant "userdocs"
Click Retry to try again, Ignore to skip this file (not recommended), or Abort to cancel installation."
"Retry" never works, "Abort" does cancel the installation. I've attempted this with my virus scanner disabled (Kaspersky), attempt a different target folder name, etc. Can't seem to get past this error. (Config: Sony Vaio w/Win7-64, 4GB RAM. Win7 libraries (Documents, Pictures, Videos, etc.) are located on a network server.)
Anybody have a solution to this? Thanks in advance! |

| Posted: | | | | Restoring the default settings for your "Documents" folder should resolve this. To do this, select your "Documents" folder in Explorer, select properties, select the “Location” tab and select "Restore Defaults". | | | Invelos Software, Inc. Representative |

| Posted: | | | | I restored the default setting for the "Documents" folder as suggested, yet still received the error upon installation. I then uninstalled and removed all traces of DVD Profiler from my PC, then attempted to reinstall. Same error, same place every time. Still stuck. |

| Posted: | | | | I'm still having this issue -- the application cannot be installed. This is also occurring with 3.6.1. |

| Posted: | | | | Sounds like a write access problem to me. Make sure that all local users (+ admins) have full access to the documents folder of your main user.
Probably best solution is to temporarily change your main user account to an admin account. | | | It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up! But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

| Posted: | | | | It shouldn't be a write access problem -- I'm logged into Windows 7 as an administrator and have full read/write privileges on the network volume that contains my "Documents" folder.
Is the installer hard-coded to place the DVD Profiler database(s) to the "Documents" folder? Is there a way to designate a different install path (as an end-user I'd much prefer that option anyway)?
Thanks for the assist! |

Still might be a write access problem since Win7 is much more restrictive than former Win-versions. Was the Documents folder created from the machine (esp. account) that you're trying to install DVDPro on? If not, Win7 sets access automatically to "Read Only" until changed in properties. But since your other programs seem to work well, I admit that this is quite unlikely. But please check anyhow (just in case). | | | It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up! | Posted: | | | | I've successfully installed the application by changing the install target directory to a folder in "Documents" on the NAS (instead of the default "Program Files" on my local drive). Go figure ... |

| Posted: | | | | This is happening to me, as well, when I try to install DVDProfiler v3.6.1 on Windows 7 Ultimate (64 bit). I don't know, if this has any thing to do with my documents pointing to the network, but I have no intention of moving them back. Hopefully Invelos will provide, a proper solution, soon.
I was able to get around the issue by copying a backup of my DVDProfiler directory from my old XP machine and executing dvdpro.exe. It asked me to put in my registration info and I was good to go. |
