I have about 900 DVDs that I have cataloged  into three pages of an Excel spreadsheet, one page for each DVD-BluRay jukebox.  I have used DVDProfiler sporadically for several years.  I want to use only one cataloging tool in the future.  While I like DVDProfiler very much, I am not really interested in re-entering most of my DVDs manually (after 40 years in the computer industry, I still cannot type with more than two fingers at a time!).  I realize that the bar-code is the device to which all DVD data is attached. I would be happy just to be able to have the DVD name and location as exported from Excel to be in the data file.

Any help?

There used to be a plugin called BulkEdit, but apparently it's withdrawn.

There is a perfectly fine link to mediadogg's website from the plugin section (next to the BulkEdit listing), where you can download BulkEdit.
Posting direct download links to plugins in the forum is against the wishes of Ken.

What are you talking about? The plugin has a thread in the Plugins Forum with links to my web site, and is listed in the Invelos Plugins Downloads on the Home Page. I appreciate your willingness to help the user, but please do not spread erroneous information.  (Oh, I see Tom beat me to it. Thanks!!! Hopefully, cvermeylen will remove the link. And, now I see it is a familar member - sorry if I was a bit brash. I'm getting a bit loopy these days ...)
Thanks for your support.

You can create a CSV file using Excel, formatted like this and give it to BulkEdit:

First row:  UPC,Title,Location

Then for each DVD, you need a row with "upc.locality","tile of dvd","Location"

or if you don't know the locality, "upc" is OK, or if you don't have the UPCs, just leave off the UPC in the first row, and don't include it in the DVD records, and BulkEdit will create a "manual profile ID" for you. Actually, you can extend the CSV fields to any of those supported by the CSV Export tool, which is a good reflection of the fields available in DVD Profiler. For consistency, I have tried to match the same spelling that CSV Export uses, so you can install it and run it for the set of fields that you want to import, and it will create a template that should be compatible with BulkEdit.

After the BulkEdit import, you should have a bunch of skeleton profiles that you can continue to improve.

Post any issues either in the BulkEdit thread if you have problems. Good luck!!!

Hmm, I actually was overlooking that. I found a few older forum topics about goodguy's old plugin.
I checked your site as well, but I was apparently too hasty in my conclusion.

Sorry for my mistake

Green one back for. I was actually doing what we should avoid at all cost. I was watching a DVD  , quickly glanced some posts, and didn't check your site properly, so the error was all mine.

I would really recommend to go by UPC. That will save you a lot of anguish later on.
If you have the covers at hand all you need is a barcode-scanner. If you can't borrow one, buy a cue-cat (USB preferably)  on ebay, best ~10 bucks you'll ever spent. If you want to carry any information (e.g. Location and Slot) over you can just as well gather the barcodes into the spreadsheet and then follow mediadoggs advice.

BTW did you wrote 3 DVD/BD jukeboxes???

"BTW did you wrote 3 DVD/BD jukeboxes???   "

Yes.  Actually, I have four Sony CX960s. Each holds 400 disks.  Three are for movie DVDs and are labeled loosely on the genre contained (Comedy-Family, Drama, and Action).  The fourth contains my favorite CDs and music DVDs. This arrangement allows me to browse and find what I want easily.  The jukeboxes connect to the internet and use Gracenote cataloging to label each DVD and CD much as DVDProfiler does for DVDs on the PC.  In DVDProfiler I personalize each disk as Location (player) and slot. My Harmony remote is programmed with an activity for each player making it easy to watch a movie once I decide on genre.  I did use a scanner to facilitate input via UPC.  However, it cannot add the personalization for each disk location which I have in a spreadsheet.  I was hoping to find a way to merge this location data with the DVDProfiler data.  I guess adding personalization for 900 DVDs manually ultimately may be the easiest path.

Thanks to all for your responses and advice.  The quality of DVDProfiler is second only to the quality of the fine folks who contribute to this forum!

I think BulkEdit can either do that now, or with small modification. Does that interest you? Oh, I see I already posted the method. I wonder why you are still asserting that it is not possible? Did you try, or do you find the method unsuitable? If so, why not describe a more suitable way - it might be easy to do.

BTW I also have a bunch of Sonys, 3xVGPXL1b, 2xCX995V, CX777ES, and CX960. All except CX960 can be controlled under DVDP. I was saddened to find that the CX960 cannot select a disk by slot. I am curious - does your Harmony do that? I have noticed that sometimes they figure out unpublished codes. If so, I can "learn" the codes from mine, and add them to LoadDVD. Looking forward to your advice on that ...

Edit: Ok, I found some bugs. I try to fix any bugs, so I will be working on it, regardless of whether you want to use BulkEdit. But I hope you will try it later.

Later Edit: Actually it seems to work OK in 3.5.1. The bugs I am seeing now are when running on the 3.6 Beta, which BulkEdit does not officially support yet.

Here is the file I used as a sample - it comes from CSV Export:

"UPC","Location - 1","Location - 2","Slot - 1","Slot - 2"
"012569-736627","cx995v1","","098",""
"025193-228024","cx995v1","cx995v3","202","203"
"043396-306288","file","","",""
"096009-462192","cx995v1","","082",""

In this case, one of the profiles has two discs, hence the "- 1" and " - 2" in the column names.
