| Posted: | | | | First not sure if this should be technical or Contribution Rules. I figured since I inquired about import options I'd place it here for now. But I've also asked about contribution rules. So maybe this is normal, but I notice when adding new movies, although cover art and titles are found, cast and crew are not? (May be other info missing, not sure) So my question is, is this normal for new movies, say ones released within the last month? I guess I'm trying to figure out the process. This is my assumption .... ... being it's a new release, someone somewhere has added it to the list (ie: UPC to Movie Title/Cover Art) but did not bother to add all the details (ie: cast, crew, overview, etc). And either I was real lucky with my original 536 movies, as they had all the details already added; or it's a timing issue with new contributions requiring approval or something, and these movies will have all the details in the near future? Also, is there a way to import this data from imdb or something? I added like 6 or 7 actors to my copy of Ong Bak 2, but it's a time consuming process and thought I'd ask about import options before I tried to do the same for my other new movies: Zombieland The Invention of Lying Pandorum Couples Retreat I also bought Knocked Up, but it had all the details in it. Which again, makes me think it may be a contribution approval timing thing? As it's an older movie. Anyway, if anyone has any insight please let me know. Thanks, Geoff |

| Posted: | | | | Your assumption is right. Not everybody cares about all the info or just keeps it local. For submitting to the online database there are certain Contribution Rules to follow. E.g. the cast and crew data has to be exactly as credited in the given release for the given locality. Data from third party databases, as IMDb, are not allowed (also due to copyright issues). But locally you can do whatever you want, of course. DJ Doena wrote the great "CrewEdit 2", a time-saving tool for importing data from IMDb; have a look here. | | | 1.0.1, iPhone 3GS, iOS 4.1.0
