I got a strange PM from a forum moderator today... one that makes literally no sense.

Quote:
Please refrain from namecalling of any kind in the contribution comments and votes.

I only have a few contributions up for vote with no name calling what so ever.

And I did no name calling in any vote comments.... matter a fact I have none that I have voted no to recently.

Not to mention the fact that if there is one thing I can't stand is name calling. I wanted to reply to ask where I did this name calling so I could see what they see or point out their mistake... but there is no way to reply to one... so I am asking here....

Where did I name call please?

This is pretty insulting to me since name calling is such a pet peeve to me.

I understand your frustration.  There should be a way to contact a moderator, especially under the circumstances you find yourself in.  The moderator can always cut one off at the knees if the contact isn't of worth.

I'm sure this was a mistake Pete. I have never seen you respond in any way that could be seen as inappropriate either in the forums or contribution notes.

I can imagine your frustration and if this post does not get a response, I would contact Ken or Gerri directly in regards to this matter.

I'm glad I'm reading this now, an hour after this post is made public,, until I read this later it might be removed by the moderator and I would never know what it was you asked.. and I do feel your frustration in this area.....
In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird. Now the World is weird and People take Prozac to make it Normal.

Well I am hoping this will stay up... as I am not so much commenting on the mod action as much as I am asking for clarification. And I wouldn't have done it publicly if I could have just replied to the PM.

No, it wouldn't. The only moderation messages that merit editing are those that call out users (by name or not by name).

Pete, I'll look into it.

Looks like the admin made a clerical error when identifying the user to message.  Likely your message appeared next to the culprit and they misclicked.  I've reset the admin counter for your account and I apologize for the error. I'll speak with the admin as well - I'm sure he'll be as embarrassed as I am.

The unknown admin is only human, and as such he is bound to make mistakes once in a while.

Oh I agree with that. That is the reason I think we should be able to reply to the mod's PM's that way we don't need to take it to the forum on such occasions.

Like Kathy, I already thought this could never be meant for you. Glad that's exactly what it turns out to be. And you're right about being unable to reply to Moderator PM's.

Thanks... I was pretty sure of that myself... but I couldn't think of a better way to find out for sure.
