| | Posted: | | | | Is there any rule regarding scanning Steelbook covers? I don't like scans where the rounded corners are on display - I don't think that it looks very good for example:  So when I scan in my Steelbooks, I use the clone stamp tool etc in photoshop to square off the corners and also ensure that the image is tightly cropped to the edge of the Steelbook for example:  The question is, should I be doing this for contributed images! |

And unfortunately we have 2 camps here. half us the community prefers the scans to mimic the case exactly so if the corners are rounded they should be in profiler also. Then the other half prefers to clean the corners. I always preferred the round corners as is on the case. That is until I got a scanner myself and started doing scans. Since then I switched camps and now prefer to clean the corners as you do. So depending on the title I could see getting some no votes. But I never got any no votes because of this. Of course I never did a steelbook scan since believe it or not... I don't own a single steelbook!  | | | | Pete |

| | Posted: | | | | I have no problem with fixing corners, I do it about the half the time myself (kinda a scan by scan basis of how it looks with rounded corners, if nasty, then stamp away).
For steelbooks I'd lean towards not doing it though. Those corners let someone like me (with a trained eye) know it is a steelbook in just a glance, and it's how the corners would look in a store. Covers may have different cuts, so one might see one copy rounded and one square on the rack together. You could even cut your actual covers to have square edges if they bug you that much! Steelbooks will always have rounded edges, can't cut them.
That being said I won't vote no one as long as everything else about the scan is good. I'd just prefer they weren't fixed. | | | | Last edited: by bigdaddyhorse |

I wouldn't vote No to a good scan with cleaned corners. |
