| Posted: | | | | Hi,
Does anyone know if there are any reliable webshops which are willing to ship to Europe. I tried to order the Panasonic DMP-BD60K though Amazon US, but they don't allow shipping to Europe.
There are region hacked BD players available in Europe, but they are very expensive (+/- 500€) The DMP-BD60K appears to be available for 130$. Even with shipping cost and import taxes, this should be very affordable. | | | View my collection at http://www.chriskepolis.be/home/dvd.htm

But I think it's cheaper to purchase a Region B + Region A BD-player , as opposed to a multi-region oppo. Does it play R1 DVD's by the way, since I own a lot of those. | | | View my collection at http://www.chriskepolis.be/home/dvd.htm

| Posted: | | | | The Oppo Blu-Ray player plays region 1 dvds. Plus with a firmware hack, it becomes region free on both blu and standard. | | | Reviewer, HorrorTalk.com

Paul What I'm lacking in the PS3 is bitstream audio. But thanks for the tip anyway. | | | View my collection at http://www.chriskepolis.be/home/dvd.htm

| Posted: | | | | I live in Belgium as well and have a Japanese PS3. I can definitely recommend it as the current best option for a region A player. - it pushes out all audio codecs 'as is' (including DTS HD MA and DD TrueHD) or transforms the stream to LPCM (you can tick which ones to convert or not per audio codec in the options) - it's one of the players that gets updated the most. I always had access to the most recent BD features (like when profile 1.1 and 2.0 was released) - HDMI v1.3 out for pushing HD audio & video - you can also playback virtually every video & audio codec, except for .mov files, which is great if you like watching HD trailers of movies. I just copy them to the HDD and play them off there. - if you also enjoy gaming, then there's really no contest I say if you have the possibility, get a Japanese one instead of a US one. Why? Because the Japanese one also is region coded to R2 for DVD's (Japan & Europe are together for DVD's, Japan and US for Blu-rays). The only problem is that it won't playback PAL content but region 2 discs with no PAL content play just fine. I've bought a Japanese PS3 slim last time I was in Japan and will sell my 60GB launch Japanese soon. Both of them haven't failed me so far and I've been very happy with them as a multimedia machine. | | | Blu-ray collection DVD collection My Games My Trophies |

| Posted: | | | | Personally, I'm not a big fan of the PS3, since I have absolutely no interest in gaming. Well, I'll go check some reviews. The ShopUSA is indeed an interesting site. When I'm ready to order, that might be the way to go.
Thanks to everyone for the feedback. | | | View my collection at http://www.chriskepolis.be/home/dvd.htm

Next week, I'm on holiday, I'm going to check some reviews for some different types of players. I just want don't want to spent a whole bunch of money on a backup player, since I just purchased a new set of speakers as well. | | | View my collection at http://www.chriskepolis.be/home/dvd.htm

| Posted: | | | | So I took the plunge. I ordered the Panasonic DMP-BD60 at Amazon, using the ShopUSA site. It will be shipped by air to Sweden next sunday. A week later, I should have it. I suppose the last part will be ground shipment. | | | View my collection at http://www.chriskepolis.be/home/dvd.htm
