To gather info on future releases of movies on DVD & BD for rental I frequented Hollywood Video.com.  However, as this was a website related to a bricks and mortar chain of stores, now out of business to the best of my knowledge, the site has changed drastically to advertising for titles for sale - a real shame.  It isn't oriented towards titles for rental and its library is now much lower in number from what I can deduce.

The only competitor was Blockbuster, but it is inferior in my view.  I have an interest in a great many types of films - foreign, indie, hollywood release, etc. and appreciated a site that was comprehensive in its listings and broke it down by wk of release. Blockbuster only lists the current week and next week and projects no further into the future.

Though I rent my stuff from Netflix, their so-called "browsing" area is very weak to say the least. One can only see the top 100 or see a break down by genre and you can't see a greater number per page if you want.  This section of their site is VERY weak in my opinion.

I purchase primarily through Amazon and have resorted to them by utilizing an additional Wishlist for rental purposes but I like what Netlfix, Hollywood Video (previously) and Blockbuster allow with title descrips by hovering over the title. You can't get that with Amazon just to mention one thing with regard to sorting and filtering tools.

I'm getting long winded here but does anyone know of a site similar to the ones I just mentioned that provide the same comprehensive listing, hovering title descrips and decent sort/filtering tools that is really focused on rentals?

There are many Hollywood Videos in the Buffalo New York area. In fact a new one just opened up in the last few months. I used mapquest and there are 10 of them in my immediate area. I clicked on one of their web sites and it still is up: http://hollywoodvideo.com/

Thanks for replying Kathy but I don't think you understood me correctly. I'm not interested in local Holywood retail outlets. Besides, I live in suburban Philadelphia, PA and locations in NY state won't help me much.

Actually, as I said I was looking for alternate websites to Hollywood Video's site that had solid listings of titles for rent and movie descriptions available by hovering a cursor and was broken down by release week. Hollywood's site may be up but it has been drastically revamped for the worse and is of little use to me now. Perhaps, you like it.  That is of course your choice.

I was just hoping for alternatives.  Anyone else out there who can venture a suggestion?

Dvdempire usually has scans to look at, I'll usually have them open when I looking over the library listings that don't have pictures or good descriptions. Nothing "hovers" though you have to inpu title and click on pictures.
