For years I have used DVDP to catalog my DVDs and then exported to XML...imported into My Movies and then used a HTPC to select DVDs in my Sony DVD Jukebox.  My pictures, documents, and music are now all digital so time to move my DVDs to the hard drive.  In reality the kids have about 40 DVDs they watch on a regular basis and those I will rip to DVD, the remainder don't get watched very often so they will go in a case to be watched the old fashion way...put them manually into the player.  For those that use Sage TV what is the best method for identifying which disks are actually on the HDD and which will need to be played manually?  Any other suggestions for managing my DVDs as I move to SageTV?

When you say you are moving, does that mean that you will no longer be using DVD Profiler? Anyway, take a look at plugins LoadDVD and LoadDVD Pro. They both control several models of the Sony jukeboxes directly, and will also load DVD images, avi files, mp3 files and pictures from the HDD. Information about the media is stored in DVD Profiler, so if you are moving away from it, then I guess this isn't releveant for you. The "Pro" version includes a built-in Player, a Playlist Manager, and will soon also support Youtube and other formats.

Perhaps you are also aware of the USB-controlled disc carousels, such as Ziotek.  LoadDVD also controls them directly. I use a Ziotek to store my Blu-Ray and HD discs. When I click on the icon, the carousel serves up the disc which I then load into a player. Someday, when I can afford the Blu-Ray changer, I will test LoadDVD with it, but I have heard that the codes are the same as for the 400 DVD CX995V model, which LoadDVD already supports.
Thanks for your support.
