| Posted: | | | | Simple question as I've hit this in back to back audits. Should this credit (Original Story By) be: A. Original Material By B. Story By ???? I could argue both ways and rules don't mention it. Forgive me if this has been brought up before. A qucik search didn't find anything, but I can't find stuff I know is here with search either. |

| Posted: | | | | The question may be simple, but I don't think the answer will be. Speaking for myself, I only use OMB when the credit is "Based on...." For this credit, I would probably go with 'Story by'. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. | Posted: | | | | I use "story by" for these. Unless I can demonstrate that it's from some outside source, the difference between original story and story is minor to me. For all I know, they're all original stories. |

| Posted: | | | | It does depend if you can show the "Original Story" was "adapted from another medium": if so, OMB seems to be the correct fit. Films derived from books should fit that, if the author of the book is credited as "Original Story by". If someone wrote the initial, bespoke "story" for a film, that then was subsequently developed and completed by others, then their "Original Story by" would be "Story by". Or am I barking up the wrong tree Update: of course, the letter of the rules say you leave it out, as it doesn't exactly fit any given credit | | | You can download higher resolution versions of any of my cover scans from here | | | Last edited: by Lewpy |

| Posted: | | | | As someone who has done several audits myself. I would use "Story By" since the credit is "Orginal STORY BY".
But that is just me. Im sure that a rules change might be necessary for this. | | | Last edited: by leo1963 |

| Posted: | | | | Given only the info provided in the OP, I'd use "Story By". | | | Hal |

| Posted: | | | | Without functional equivalents or name variants allowed by the rules, strictly according the current rules "Original story by" qualifies neither for "Story by" nor for "Original Material by". But IMO "Story by" would be the role name variant which should be applied here. |

| Posted: | | | | I agree with mdnitoil and Lewpy to use Story By unless it can be proven the story was adapted from another medium, which would make it Original Material By | | | View my collection at http://www.chriskepolis.be/home/dvd.htm
