| Posted: | | | | I've come across an interesting dilema, the opening credits for a DP says "Robert Hayes" but the end credits has him as "Bob Hayes". Same sort of thing for a compser. Opening credits it is "Marcello Defrancisci" (no spaces or capitalization to distinguish anything) and end credits as "Marcello De Francisici". Which are they credited as? Do I go with the opening or end credits?
Not that it matters too much (neither one of them are in the system whichever way), but I'm curious how this has been done in the past... |

| Posted: | | | | Well, this appears not to be covered by the rules.
As a personal preference, since DP and composer are main credits which are almost always in the opening credits, I'd say take those. | | | View my collection at http://www.chriskepolis.be/home/dvd.htm

| Posted: | | | | I was going to go that way as well. And if it was just the composer, I'd go with the end credits version since that's how those last names are normally credited as. But since there are two of them, I feel I should go one way (opening credits) or the other (end credits). Like I said, an interesting dilema. |

| Posted: | | | | The Rules do indicate that the primary source is the End credits. Personal preferemnce has no place in the data entry EVER, except for locally. While it is not directly addressed for Crew, it is clearly defined as relates to Cast data. I think it follows in this case as well.

Skip I totally understand your argument skip, but I applied some logic to my personal preference. 99.99% of all movies that have opening credits, will have composer and DP in the opening credits, not in the closing credits. Why they chose to repeat a few credits, and with different spelling is beyond me. So I'd say, logic clearly dictates (too much star trek forum stuff lately ) take the credits from the opening credits. Unless the CLT would suggest otherwise, but as TheMovieman stated, none of them were in the db yet. | | | View my collection at http://www.chriskepolis.be/home/dvd.htm

| Posted: | | | | I submitted according to opening credits. Just thought it was interesting and should be addressed specifically in the rules in the future. |

Skip I don't think I already encountered these types of credits. But if the majority feels we should interpret the cast rules also apply to crew, I'm happy to go that way. I'm not set out to corrupt the database with incorrect data. I only reviewed the crew rules when TheMovieman posted his question. So, your point is well taken. Addicted2DVD agrees with you, and I'm sure there will be others who see it like you do. | | | View my collection at http://www.chriskepolis.be/home/dvd.htm

| Posted: | | | | Yeah, but Movieman just went with whatever made him happy, that's why I made the second comment. The Rules don't matter, don't worry about consistency just do what you want. It's not a common problem, i have run into it and the Rules very clearly tell me how to do it with consistency as i explained. In such an instance as has been described, WHY would we go EXACTLY the opposite direction from what the Rules say for Cast data. Perhaps Movieman can explain this. | Posted: | | | | Wait a second, so it should've been according to the end credits? I misread it. And by the way, when have you ever known me to against the rules? Huh? Jeez. So you know what, instead of being an ass about it, you could've just simple asked. I MADE A MISTAKE. Now I see why others are leaving. | | | Last edited: by The Movieman |

| Posted: | | | | Whew, no need to get so annoyed. I explained it, and Pete agreed. And then your next post you said you went the opposite direction. The important thing was I got your attention on it. Glad to see you simply misread it, do you know how manyt times that happens to all of us, including me.

| Posted: | | | | There was no need for this thread to go the way it did. What TheMovieman did was NOT against the rules in any way, shape or form. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. Perhaps you can explain it, unicus. As I noted one could argue that it is not covered by the Rules. Yet regarding Cast data where this situation was well-known to occur when the Rukles were written, we gave specific instructions. So can you explain why you would go in 180 degrees the opposite direction just because it is crew data, that is inconsistent data handling in my book.
