Hi all.
Just a quick question, after checking the forums back to january
I changed my alias, are there any way to make sure you can't visit the old alias collection page?

don't worry - changing your alias will have renamed the old collection to the new one so everybody can see the collection ok.

He's right. Jubal's old nick is working, too:

Yes, but it's identical to the collection which is to be seen under his new nick.
Compare: http://www.invelos.com/dvdcollection.aspx/jubal
So it seems that for some reason your online collection can be visited if you enter any of your (formerly) used nicknames.
Seems like a job for Ken to me.

EDIT: The above thesis seems not to be entirely correct: http://www.invelos.com/DVDCollection.aspx/Dr%20Pavlov, Dr Pavlov, another former nick of Skip (jubal) gives no results.

<<scratches head>>
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

You have 2 manes here, you're user name and your alias. Your collection can be locted by using either. I do not believe you can change your user name as it is tied to your account. You can however change your alias. I would guess most of us use our user name as our alias.

Using the Jubal example his account will always be accessible by using his user name, skipnet50. Jubal works now since it is his current alias. Dr. Pavov doesn't work anymore since it is no longer his alias. When Jubal decides this isn't a lost cause and switches to his next alias you will be able to see his collection using that name but not Jubal anymore. Of course you can always use the user name, if you know it. Make sense?

Thanks Rick. This explains it.

Leave it to Rick to come up with the logical explanation.

Oh, and a from me as well.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.

What lyonsden5 said is right, except you CAN change your username. Just go to my profiler -> User Settings and enter a new one. It can be the same as the alias, but it doesn't have to be. Changes are effective immediately.

Yep that works. I used to have my email address as my user name but I have now changed my user name to my old alias and picked a new alias and both give access to my online collection.
