| Posted: | | | | Hello all. I am a fairly new user to DVD Profiler, so please bear with me here.
I have entered most of my DVDs by now - 165 titles, 480 discs - and most profiles seem to be OK. However last week I added 24 Season 7, which is a six-disc box set. Unfortunately at the time the DVD was just released that day and so the profile was pretty sparse. E.g., there was only a front cover, so I scanned and added the back cover. Also, the profile that was downloaded did not show this DVD as a box set. If I open the Edit DVD dialog and go to the Box Set tab there are two columns: one containing all box sets and I can assign one to this profile. But 24 Season 7 doesn't appear on the Box Set list from which I am to assign, and I cannot find where I can edit the Box Set list. Am I just missing it? Or can't I add to the Box Set list? I tried refreshing the profile but it still hasn't added the Box Set for this DVD.
I have more questions but I will save those for another post so as not to clutter up this one.
I appreciate any advice. Thanks!

| Posted: | | | | You can manually search for the disc profiles (they'll have a Disc ID instead of a UPC) and then once downloaded, edit the parent profile, click on the Box Set tab, and then filter for your discs and add them.
Alternately, every so often or when you notice the parent profile has been updated, click on it and select Online > Refresh DVD from Invelos > Check for Child Profiles (or press CTRL-F12). Someone needs to add the Disc ID's to the parent profile for this to work.
Another option would be to press Shift-Control-I to invert all your flags (which should set them all) and then hit Collection > Flagged > Check for Child Profiles |

| Posted: | | | | OK - apparently I needed to search for new child profiles rather than refresh the profile. Unfortunately though I lost all my crew information - I had added quite a lot plus photos. I didn't notice any kind of warning that I could lose info I had input myself.

| Posted: | | | | You can lock every individual section of data to prevent it from being overwritten by profile updates from the central database. |

Jim you should always preview any changes for each profile - then you can select which ones you want to apply | | | Paul |

| Posted: | | | | Thanks for all the replies. I can see that there is more involved in "refreshing" than initially meets the eye; more apparent when you have used it for a while - not as apparent starting off with DVD Profiler.
However my original question remains: How do I add a box set? Manually? When I first added 24 Season 7 the profile online had very little data, which is understandable considering I had the DVD a couple days prior to the official release. So in that case, or the case where I am adding a DVD/movie that is not currently in the online database, how do I add the fact that it is a box set?
Another example: The Shield TV series. I have all six seasons that have been released. Seasons 2 through 6 show as box sets, yet Season 1 does not. When I open the Edit dialog>Box Set Contents tab I find The Shield Seasons 2 through 6 in the left column but not Season 1. Previewing refresh changes shows only a couple of cast changes but nothing about the box set.
Any advice?
Thank you.
Jim
EDIT: Perhaps the answer is in Dr. Killpatient's first reply: Do I need to add Disc ID's? If so, I can do that. Odd though that all seasons' profiles for The Shield have them except the first. Or maybe refreshing cannot add those?
Thanks again, Jim | | | Last edited: by J-Mac |

| Posted: | | | | Your Disc ID may be different from what's in the database if you are searching by inserting the disc. Searching by title should yield the disc profile in question, if I understand your "edit" correctly.
And it's entirely possible that the season just doesn't have profiles created for them yet, but unlikely. I can't personally check at this time. | | | Last edited: by Dr. Killpatient |
