Charles Tamburro for both:
Mitchell
Mystery Science Theater 3000: Mitchell

Technically the credit for both these profiles is for the film Mitchell so i'm not sure if counts as one confirmed Credit or two confirmed Profiles.

Agreed
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

I checked the current results of the CLT, and when they are all corrected, the results will be:

Charles A. Tamburro 90 (with 6 confirmed movies)
Charles Tamburro    193 (with 6 confirmed movies)
Chuck Tamburo      61 (with 1 confirmed movie)
Chuck Tamburro      212 (with 8 confirmed movies)

Keep in mind that there are still a lot of wrong localities in the database, so the results may be a little lower.

So it looks like Chuck Tamburro will be the common name, but I'm not inclined to base this on the number of movies. There's absolutely no link between actual credits and number of movies.
If incorrect localities are deleted, it's quite possible that suddenly Charles Tamburro will be the common name. And then what? Change them all again?

I appreciate the common name threads and the work people put into it, but please look a little further than just the number of movies.

Just my $0.02.

Or entries like these:

8-710398-602787: Motel Hell: BOOTLEG. I contributed this one (my notes were probably too vague) and it was declined

Of course it should have been removed. It's still in the database though.

I don't think we should base the CLT results on number of profiles first. The title count is important.
Example:

"Anthony B. Actor" is Credited 10 times in independent Movies that have been released only in the US on DVD. But he only appeared in a small role in a big budget movie that had about 100 different releases all over the world as "Anthony A. Actor".
CLT would result would be:
Anthony B. Actor: 10 title (10 profiles)
Anthony A. Actor: 1 (100 profiles)

If we would use only the profile count, we say smaller movies have no value and I don't think that is right.

I agree that the rules are a bit vague:
Quote:
To determine whether to enter the name directly as credited, or to use the "Credited As" field, use the Credit Lookup tool.

It doesn't say specifically "number of profiles" nor "number of movies".

So at the moment, we are both right.

You are right the rules are a bit vague.  But contributions changing a profile entries common name based on the number of movies are being accepted regularly.  Having threads that reduce it to the number of movies per name can only help make things more correct.  The CLT results will lag but will trend towards the thread results as people become aware of them.

Sure things can change especially when there isn't a dominant name (as with Mr. Tamburro) but i'll take the thread based results over the suspect CLT any time i can.
