| Posted: | | | | I appologize up front if this issue has been answered. I tried but couldnt get the 'search forum' button to work to find the answer, it kept giving me time-outs......
My issue is missing graphics or info within the database.
There have been times when I have to reload my collection into a pc. I do this by uploading my collection from the website where I have previously added it to my profile. The problem Im noticing is that when I reload my collection in this manner, a good amount of the covers from my collection dont come back. This makes me wonder if there might be any other info within my catalog that is missing.
Why does this happen? Is there a way I can upload my entire collection, images included, so that they will be recalled when I re-load it all again later?
If not, is there maybe a way to create an html page simply, using the DVD Profiler, that can display and hold a full copy of my catalog to my personal webspace? I say simply because I dont have the knowledge to deal with code, so to speak. I tried a php version a while back and got nothing out of it, couldnt make it work and finally gave up.
Next, I thought that since I have to get the images reloaded into my collection anyway, maybe I need to "contribute" these missing images so that the database could finally include them. I figured that since I had to fill in the missing parts of my collection, maybe contributing them for the database would help others. (You know, I cannot be the only person in the entire world that bought a particular dvd with its specific UPC needing the matching cover art and info.)
But, it seemed that idea didnt work out either. It became another frustration when someone didnt approve of what I submitted that made my collection more complete. (I have yet to understand that one since Im holding the dvd in my hand but Im being told its the wrong info....) So, not to be one to continue arguing pointlessly, I gave up on the whole 'contributing' issue as well.
Anyway, thanks for the help in advance. Im just an average person who really loves this program, but needs it to work more consistantly to give me a complete catalog, including the images. Im not one of these masters of programming that can figure out all the fixes, so I have to ask. Hopefully, I can get some help with this irritation....missing info & graphics from the database. |

| Posted: | | | | Well, you can backup your collection (File --> Backup Database) and save it on a flash drive or something and then all you need to do is reload it (File --> Restore Database). |

| Posted: | | | | I use Movieman's solution, making regular complete backups to a USB-stick. That I think is probably the only workable solution if you have a lot of profiles with no image in the online database. Strange that your contributions of images would be declined if there are no previous images, but it's hard to determine the reason without more information. If they were to be accepted then you'd be able to restore from your online collection including images.
If the problem lies elsewhere: I've missed a few images before, I can't remember if this was after a restore from my online collection (sometimes my USB-stick isn't available). I was able to correct the problem by using the menu-option: Online - Refresh all images. All missing images were reloaded. Have you given that a try?

| Posted: | | | | To search the forums here, use Google's search appending "site:invelos.com" onto the search string. |

| Posted: | | | | @Restless: The online collection was never intended to be a "backup site". If all else is lost, yes, that is a way to retrieve large parts of your collection.
But the regular way is to use File->Backup Database and File->Restore Database. | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

| Posted: | | | | Maybe it's useful to point out that as far as cover scans go, the central Invelos database only contains scans of original releases. It happens quite often that a DVD gets a re-release with the same UPC, but with different cover art. In those cases the contribution rules prohibit submission of the new scans. Could this explain your experiences with contributing cover art?
This is an issue that keeps coming up, and many users have already asked for a future release to be able to handle various cover art for the same UPC. Unfortunately, so far there is no solution, other than using your own scans in your local collection and locking them down (to prevent them getting accidentally overwritten during profile updates).
Solutions to get the right covers online (outside Invelos' online collection) do indeed involve PHP. |

| Posted: | | | | Thanks for the info, that all makes sense. Actually, I have tried locking my entries when I get them how I want them, and it seems to work...well, I havent noticed it not working...at least not until I have to reload my collection again.
I will most probably try to run the php again sometime, like I said, I love this program and it irritates the crap out of me that I cant seem to run it right. So I guess I'll try again.
Thanks again! |

| Posted: | | | | You're welcome! You might want to take a look at this site as well as this forum for instructions on how to get PHP to work. Please note that your webhost needs to support PHP4 or later as well as MySQL 3.23 or later - otherwise it won't work. | | | Last edited: by dee1959jay |
