| Posted: | | | | I have been trying out DVD Profiler (demo version) and will most likely invest in the paid version.
However, I also tried installing it on my work notebook and was unable to do so, as I wasn't logged in as adminsitrator. Is there any way to install the package as a regular (non-administrator) user?
I would of course mostly use the software at home, but it's convenient to be able to quickly check my collection while on the road with my work notebook.
So far I've been using Collectorz.com Movie Collector and had no trouble installing that one on my work notebook.
Thanks in advance for your reply. | | | Blu-ray collection DVD collection My Games My Trophies |

| Posted: | | | | The installation of any software requires admin privileges. So sadly if you cannot log in as an admin yourself you'd have to ask the admin of your company to install the software for you. | | | It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up! But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

Actually, there are some software packages I can install without being logged in as admin (such as certain codecs, Collectorz.com software, etc) A pity but I'm afraid the company admins won't install it ... guess I'm stuck with using it on my own PC only | | | Blu-ray collection DVD collection My Games My Trophies | | | Last edited: by Taro |

| Posted: | | | | AFAIK, it only needs admin rights if it writes to the registry or tries to install into "system" folders. | | | First registered: February 15, 2002 |

I guess when installing DVD Profiler writes somethingin the registry. EDIT: problem solved! For those that have the same issue: just install the software on a PC you have admin rights on; transfer the entire DVD Profiler folder from 'Program Files' of that PC to 'Program Files' of your work PC and it works! I can even go online with it! | | | Blu-ray collection DVD collection My Games My Trophies | | | Last edited: by Taro |

As it happens I presently have Admin rights on my work PC but this could very easily change so many thanks for this useful info! | | | It is dangerous to be right in matters where established men are wrong |

| Posted: | | | | I've been able to install DVD Profiler purely by copying files. Ordinarily there are three subdirectories, or folders, you have to worry about, each called "DVD Profiler". One is probably under "Program Files", another is probably under "My Documents", and the last is under "Application Data". Once everything is copied, just execute the program. No messing with the registry required. (The copy of the folder database, which itself contains the ever-swelling Images, is ordinarily under the DVD Profiler folder under My Documents.) | | | Last edited: by karlpov |
