If any of you bought The Fugitive Season 2, Volume 1 and didn't like the music changes, CBS is offering replacement discs. See here on how to get them.

Thanks so much for this. I bought the set a while ago and haven't had a chance to see it. Why do these companies do this stuff?!

It's a very long and invovlved explanation, Chaz. it's all about musical clearances and i gather they must have gotten it resolved.

I've been wondering what would happen with a show like Cold Case which often has a musical theme around it (Bruce Springsteen, etc.).  I'm thinking it will be a long time before Cold Case ever makes it to DVD.  I imagine the performance rights for an episode would be very costly.

It really depends on how the music was licensed to them. If the producers were smart enough to ask for the home video rights when doing the contract for the music licensing, it won't be a problem, but if they didn't its going to be very costly. I have a feeling the producers didn't do this with Cold Case, otherwise I'm sure they would be out on the store shelves.

Interesting there seemed to be no problems with "clearances" with the previous series sets. Oh well, good to see they rectified things.

I think that is why there was such an uproar about it, even Variety had a story about. Also people were saying that the original music was on the Columbia House releases with no problems.

Received my upgrades today. The discs and label look exactly the same as the first releast -- same UPC, everything. They came in a new cover. On the first one, discs 1 & 4 were attached to the cover & discs 2 & 3 where on either side of a flapper. The new one has all 4 discs on two flappers. The disc IDs are new, and (so far) unlisted in DVDP.

I submitted cloned profiles for these replacement discs today, using the new disc IDs. The only changes I made were in the release date, and adding "(replacement)" to the title and sort title. I cannot figure out a way to submit the new box, in that it has the same UPC as the original release. Any ideas?

Off the top of my head I don't think you can. If only the disc IDs are different then those can easily be submitted but I don't think they can be linked to the box set as the originals there take priority.

The only thing I can think of is to make a thread listing the new disc IDs so those who have the new version can more easily identify and download those.

If my four replacement disc submissions are accepted, they will be listed both by disc ID and by the title with (replacement) at the end -- easy to find and download into any collection. At the moment, I just have them in the same box set as the original discs... a single set with eight children!

All four have been accepted! I imagine they will be available to everyone soon.

Feel free to improve upon them, as that's one way this program grows...
