5 Minutes is way to long, usually this happens when security software is interferring. Temporarily disable the on access scan of your security software and check if there's any improvement.
The screen resolution shouldn't be responsible for this problem.
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

Are you using any of the special layouts. I created a layout myself, and the load time was maybe 3 times compared to one of the default ones.

Thank you for your replies, but you only need reply once.

When loading, do you see the loading eye graphic load slowly or does it go all the way to one side and then wait or just takes awhile to start moving?

Just some questions for a better understanding:
1. How large is your swap file? (it should be around 1.5 - 2 times your RAM size)
2. Do you use the default settings for your swap file or did you change anything?
3. Whith Taskmanager openend (processes tab) which program has the most RAM usage at the startup of DVDProfiler?
4. With Taskmanager openend (processes tab) which program has the largest CPU-usage at the startup of DVDProfiler?
5. Does this extreme slow response occur with other programs too?
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

Not quite what I asked, I meant which process is using the RAM and the CPU and not how high is the RAM and/or CPU usage.

I think you have bigger problems since your laptop can't produce lower case.
