David E. Campbell (sound re-recording mixer) sometimes credited as David Campbell or Dave Campbell
http://theoscarsite.com/whoswho7/campbell_d.htm
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0132372/

Invelos Credit Lookup
David E. Campbell 247/471
David Campbell 346/1008
Dave Campbell 183/634

The results for David Campbell are mixed with the credits of two other actors, a composer and an executive producer.

Counting the single film tittles where is credited the sound re-recording mixer:

David E. Campbell 47 title
David Campbell 75 title
Dave Campbell 50 title

but many title are mixed.
I've also noticed that in many cases the credit is "David E. Campbell [David Campbell] or [Dave Campbell]"
David E. Campbell

Calculating the unambiguos credits (obtained from my DVD and the credits "credited as") I obtain:

David E. Campbell 37 title
David Campbell 60 title
Dave Campbell 47 title

So it seems to me that David Campbell should be the common name (and not David E. Campbell used now by many people).
In this case shold be useful birth date to distingush the sound re-recording mixer from the actors end prodicers, and I haven't found it.

Based on that, "David" indeed seems to be the most-credited form. Can anyone confirm some more credits, so that we can be absolutely sure? I'll keep updating this list.

For the record: it's unfortunate that there are multiple other people named David and Dave Campbell - if David E. Campbell isn't the common name, and it sure doesn't look that way, then indeed we're going to need a birth year to separate him from the others. Unfortunately, as is mostly the case, no birth year can be found. As of yet, this middle initial helps to keep those people separated - that may be a part of why that variant is often used as the common name - but if it's not the most-credited form, it'll have to go...

In such a case, I never hesitate and use the form with middle initial...
