| Posted: | | | | There is one area of the Profiler Software I have never been happy with, version after version it remains my most Unused area of this fabulous Software. Movie Pick (F11)., I have often thought to pick a movie through an input to Movie Pick of either: Genre / Last watched/ Year/ Running time/Audio ..... (Notice I didn't pick cast or crew? More on that later.. ) So. I click on Movie Pick and it scans My collection in a second or three and then up pops.. (i.e) Back To he Future.., Why? well lets see.. It can't be because my last watched slide indicator is set to the extreme left,( least watched) ,, But I have marked and watched BTTF last March,, and I know i have discs I haven't watched at all. Other areas of confinement is the fact that the program of Movie Pick comes up and in the upper left corner are two boxes or areas,-- reads 'constraints' -max length / last watched . but both areas are set to ALL . If I try and change the box to different search modes I get "you must select at least one DVD' . So I pick the first title that shows up, and the movie pick program disappears back to my main program. I open it again., This time I get a different title. and my Max and Last Watched picks are back to default of ANY again. so I try the 'Rate Selection' in the middle section at the bottom. The colored 10 bars slides that offer 'very positive' or 'very negative'. -- is totally confusing as the lowend gives me Bridge on the River Kwai, and the positive end gave me Casablanca . BOTH of which I have set as High movie /dvd review., ?? So,, I then start adding titles to the right column ( for me to choose later),, and the titles picked have no ryhme or reason to their devotness. I can have all sorts of mix match .. So Why can't I just have the program pick my above choices of: 'Genre / last watched/ year/ running time/audio ' . ?? Oh and the cast and crew? doesn't really matter as I could pick those through no fault of it own by clicking on each head shot in profiler itself. Now, I now I'm going to get forum answers here stating that I should use database query ( of which I have) and of course that program is separate and is an add on to Profiler.. So, back to my question: Why do we have Movie Pick? How does it work? and do we really need it when we have additional plugins to do this task???? | | | In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird. | Posted: | | | | I don't use the feature, and I probably wouldn't use it as long as I have a "To Watch" pile. (Or, I suppose, if the "To Watch" pile goes over 100 titles or so. ) |

| Posted: | | | | I never use this feature either. Matter of fact one of the first things I did was edit my toolbar to not show the icon for it. | | | Pete |

| Posted: | | | | I used it a couple of times, but it isn't a feature I would miss if it's gone. Maybe if it would improve a bit, although I don't know how. | | | Unfortunately, I can't use DVDprofiler at the moment due to lack of a Windows computer. |

| Posted: | | | | I don't find it particularly useful. To pick a movie based on e.g. genre, language, director, cast - really almost anything other than Last Watched, I don't even use a plugin. The collection filters will do just fine to come up with suggestions in most cases. |

If I want to shorten the list, I apply additional filters. Perhaps what we need is improved filtering (the ability to run combinations of filters, e.g. A and [B or C], especially for tags and genres). I've tried the Movie Pick, but have never been satisfied with the results, so do my own movie picking now. | | | Adelaide Movie Buffs (info on special screenings, contests, bargains, etc. relevant to Adelaideans... and contests/bargains for other Aussies too!) |

| Posted: | | | | Last time I have use it, the fonction had only one thing on its mind : make me watch a XXX movie
Try 5 or 6 times and it was always a XXX movie, after that I've decided that I can decide myself what I want to watch... |

| Posted: | | | | I've never used it either. But I don't believe that's a good enough reason to remove it from the program. I'm sure some people out there must use it. Since it isn't bugging me and doesn't harm anything, I see no reason to take it from them. | | | Get the CSVExport and Database Query plug-ins here.
