I'm doing another profile, this one for Bride of Re-Animator SE (013023031791). I'm not even through the opening credits and come across this:

Story adapted from H.P. Lovecraft's "Herbert West - Re-Animator" by: Then 3 names.
Next credit is:
Screenplay by: 2 of the 3 names.

Existing profile has all 3 with "screenwriter" credits, but only 2 really have that on the film. Profile also has H.P. Lovecraft for OMB which I feel is correct as he's mentioned.

Is there another way to do apadations? Screenwriter sounded right, until there was the SW credit after the adapts. Now I'm confusd and the rules say nothing about "adapted" anywhere. I'm leaning toward chopping the 3rd name off, but don't feel that's right either since he has the adapted credit, but he can't be screenwriter when others have that credit can he?

It sounds like the screenplay was based on the story which was based on the short story.  If it were me, I would enter it this way:

  • OMB H.P. Lovecraft

  • Story by the 3 names

  • Screenplay by the 2 names
  • No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.

  • See, this is why I ask. It seems so obvious after seeing it written out, but I just couldn't come up with it myself.
    Thanks, enjoy your new arrow.

Neither "Story adapted from xy's z by" nor "Screenplay by" is listed in the crew table. Therefore, until the rules are changed to allow functional equivalents, none of the above is allowed to be contributed, if we follow the rules strictly.

    Skip,

Your practice of referring to people by their real name rather than their screen name makes it difficult for those of us who don't know or remember who Marvin is, for example, to know who it is you are concurring with.  Especially since no one in this thread has "Marvin" in his signature.

Just an observation from the mind of one rapidly approaching age 60 (next week! ) and losing more memory cells by the day.

LOL, Ken. I have no idea what unicus' real name is. But Marvin does have a context...as in Marvin the Martian.

I still have the Illudium 238 Modulator.

BTW, right behind you in the age category.

    Where's the party?
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

Since I don't want any party,  if you want to celebrate one, the location is up to you.

I see now.  Thanks for the reminder, guys.  I didn't remember the name of the Avatar.  Shows the level of my ignorance.  Maybe next time I'll remember it, but I wouldn't count on it.
