How much do our votes count in determining whether or not a contribution is accepted or declined?

For instance, if the votes are 10 to 1 in favor, but the 'no' votes list legitimate problems, is it common for the contribution to be accepted anyway?

Sometimes, as i have noted many times, one legitimate vote No should result in a decline, btu i don't know what standards the screeners apply.

If the screener agrees with the no vote, no matter what the votes are it will be declined but on the other hand if it has more no votes to yes votes it still can be approved if the contribution is correc and by the rules. The voting is to make something aware to the screeners and other voters. It still all boils down to the screeners have the final say.

A case in point is this recently approved contribution:

A Slight Case of Murder
UPC: 012569-679511

One part of the contribution was "Updated Jack Scholl to Composer as he is credited as Music by."

The music credits for the existing profile were:

M. K. Jerome...Composer
Jack Scholl...Song Writer

The credit listed onscreen is: "Music and Lyrics by...M. K. Jerome and Jack Scholl", the clear implication being that Mr. Jerome and Mr. Scholl wrote one or more songs for the film.

I voted 'no' and listed the onscreen credit as the reason.  Eight or nine other people voted yes, and without comment, as I recall.  The contribution was approved.

The Rules say not to credit "songs by, Song/Music writers" as composers, it was pointed out in the votes that this was a songwriter credit, and yet this contribution was approved anyway, introducing (IMO) incorrect data into the online profile.

It makes one wonder if it's worth the trouble to vote.

Without seeing the whole credit, it could be correct. If the credit Music and Lyrics by is for the film, then composer is the correct credit. If that credit is listed with the title of a song, then neither of those guys should be given a composer credit.

How could it be correct if the Rules specifically say not to give Composer credit to "Song/Music writers"?

When might a credit of "Music and Lyrics by" be given to someone other than a songwriter?

AIUI generally the No votes are simply 'flags' to the screener tp check out why the No has been cast. If it is correctly cast then it's declined... if not (ie. the screener disagrees with the No reason) it can go through - obviously the more No votes the more the screener is likely to suspect there's something definitely wrong!

It has also been shown in the past that they will let no votes for legitimate  reasons go through at times if it is only a small thing and it is part of a large update.

Me.. when I see a 'no' to a submission I have.. I do not even bother anymore, I withdraw it. I have seen some of the submissions I did with more than 50 yes and 1 no rejected , therefore I am assuming that the person scanning the submission for the final say concur.. Example I have just pulled out a bunch of submissions based on one 'no' even if there was many good changes! As long as I have them in my database, I am happy

All that to say that: Yup, invelos staff do take a close look at the submissions before incorporating them to their database (to which, even if it **** me off that my 'great' stuff get rejected *kidding*).

Now why do I agree? I would rather see a good submission rejected than a bad one accepted!!!!

I suspected that this might be the case.

It might be advantageous if the screeners were able to partially accept a contribution, and decline sections in dispute, especially for an extensive contribution.

I don't like the fact that bad data could be entered into the online database after it's been flagged just because it has some good data tagging along.

I agree with that and have seen it happen a few times.

I also agree that they should be able to accept parts of a contribution not just separating the cover scans & info parts.

You can have all yes votes and still have it declined... happened to me last week..
