I have been a basic user of DVDP for several years, but now I need to use it more effectively.  I have two houses, although the way the economy is headed, I may end up with none.  Be that as it may, I am moving DVD's back and forth between the two houses.  What is the best way to keep track of which disc is where, using DVDP?

I see where there is a Location Field, that I might be able to use, although that field doesn't appear to be searchable using the Filters function.  Another thought I had was to use Tags, one for each house, or a Location Tag, with each house listed as a Child to the Location Tag.  I am sure that many of you are already doing something like this, but I couldn't find it in my forum search.

Therefore, I would greatly appreciate any suggestions that might help me accomplish my goal.

Thanks, and Happy Holidays.

You're right - unfortunately we can't currently filter on the location field.
However you can sort your collection list based on the location, slot fields and I find this good enough for my needs for now - I can sort my collection, then use the "flag all above" or "flag all below" commands to flag them for reports.
If you need them to be more flexible then unfortunately I think Tags would be your best bet, as you suggested.

One way of doing it would be to set up your 2 houses as separate user's, then "Loan" DVD's between them. Which means you can also filter the Loaned DVD's as well.

Yeah, I would use the "Loan DVD" feature for a situation like this: consider one of your houses as the home for your collection and define the other house as a different user you can "loan" DVDs to. Be sure to set the standard loan period (Tools / Options / Default) sufficiently long for your purposes.

BTW: welcome to the Asylum!

And good luck in dealing with your "economy" issues!
