I don't know if this has been asked.

Is the MP the only thing to be listed in the parent profile and studios listed in the various child profiles?

Yes, to explain it simply, RL. For example, Warner Bros makes movies they do not make slip covers or cases, that belongs to Warner Home Video. Not to mention that the movies in an individual parent may NOT all have the same Studio data...the only thing they have in common is the Publisher/Distributor.

I agree with Skip.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.

Yes. Keep in mind that this doesn't apply to TV sets, though, for which child profiles are allowed but not required, and as such no data should ever be stripped from the parent.

IMO whenever allowed by the rules a parent profile should feature any data which is valid for the complete box set.

I also agree with Skip; nothing but the publisher of the DVD should be in the parent (of a non-TV) profile as they are the only company responsible for that packaging.

The only possible exception would be if the parent includes material additional to the child profiles in which case the creator of that additional material (if different from the MP) would be appropriate I believe
It is dangerous to be right in matters where established men are wrong

Yep,

I agree too.
The films in a box can have different studios producing them, so the Studios only have to be in the child profiles

cheers

If the studios are different, the yes. But if the studios are the same for all the content (trilogies, sequel boxes etc.) they may be added to the parent profile.

Not if they are a Movie Boxset, Rho. That would become a LOCAL decision. I handle my TV parents in exactly the same way I deal with Movie Boxes, and I keep that information LOCALLY.

Where in the rules are studios forbidden for the parent profile of a movie box set?

Perhaps the rule needs to be re-written to exclude functional equivalents .
