It says in the rules the following:
Studios List the Studios in the following priority.
Theatrical Release Studio(s) Production Company(s)
But in different countries different studios release the movie. I think most of the time the USA theatrical release studio is used but shouldn't we use the one that released it in the country you live in if it's different? I don't want to make things more difficult but to me it's unclear what studio to use when the rules only state 'Theatrical Release Studio'. Are they assuming we all are residing in the USA?
Just curious what you make of this.
Have a nice weekend

J.P. The same question has been raised in this post: http://www.invelos.com/Forums.aspx?task=viewtopic&topicID=326671Most of the time the theatrical release studio's logo appears at the beginning of the film. Indeed, locally there are exceptions. Maybe the cover or DVD opening credits can be used for this. But one should be very careful, because in many cases the theatrical release studio isn't mentioned on the cover or in the movie credits at all (the DVD distributor and production studios only). In many cases the DVD Distributor was not the theatrical release studio. It's better to stick by the movie credits only I guess. | | | Cor |

The theatrical release studio is based on the country (locality) of (theatrical) release. Movies that aren't released by the big studios in the non-US countries (in other words, released by local studios), aren't credited in the movie credits. Sometimes those studios are credited on the cover or in the DVD credits at start up or as a seperate feature when starting the movie. But those credits could be used for the DVD distributor as well. But in many cases the DVD distributor was not the theatrical release studio. | | | Cor | | | Last edited: by Corne |

JHoningh isn't talking about the CoO (that's where the movie is from). The CoO depends on the production studios. The Theatrical Release Studio is the studio that releases the movie in theaters. This differs locally. But one should not use the Theatrical Release Studio for the CoO. | | | Cor |

Theatrical release studio is the one that put the film on the market and not the DVD. If no Theatrical release studio in the credits nothing else is to replace it. So only producing companies would then get a credit for studios in this case. Indeed, it's hard to say what's the Theatrical Release Studio when it's not credited in the movie. I would go for the credits only. | | | Cor |

| Posted: | | | | the theatrical releases are handled by different studios in different countries many times. if it's a north american movie it is save to go with the us studio but what about other countries? maybe we should find out where the movie was first released and by what studio? Like Corne said on the dvd (on screen and cover) it only shows the production studios and dvd publishers but not the Theatrical distributor. Maybe a new field is needed. One for the Theatrical distributor (localized as necessary) at least 5 for production companies and one for media publisher
chew on that Invelos (and the rest of you guys of course)
hoping for responses,
