| Posted: | | | | Anyother way you can do this for any character you do not know the ALT code for is if you go to:
Programs > Accessories > Systems tools
You should see "Character Mapper"
This problem will let you select an installed character sets and font and pick any character and copy it into the Cut/Past buffer. This also shows you the ALT code in the lower left corner.
This helps when you have like characters like ÿ in a credited name.

| Posted: | | | | Depends on which you need
You refer to an em DAsh (—) alt+0151 or en dash (–) alt+0150
or just a dash (-) |

or just a dash (-) And just in case you don't know which one to use: The em dash should be the same length as a capital M The en dash should be the same length as a capital N So fingers crossed your overview either has an M or an N in it! |

| Posted: | | | | And another way would be to ask "Why try and enter it in the first place?"
No doubt - someone will immediately respond that we have to enter everything exactly otherwise the Polar ice caps will melt faster. But really - some changes which are really trivial should be blocked by Invelos at the contribution stage.
For instance - re-ordering of existing genres - submitting extra spaces / less spaces in Overview - changing a - to -- etc.
Lets make life easier for a) contributions. b) people checking contributions and c) the screeners. | | | Paul |

So fingers crossed your overview either has an M or an N in it! If you can't tell wether its an en-dash or an em-dash, this may help. The en-dash is generally used to separate ranges, like 50–60 years. Or to show a relationship between two things, like the New York–London flight. I think of it this way, if the dash could be replaced with the word "to", then it's an en-dash (though there are exceptions). The em-dash is generally used to mark parenthetical thoughts. Of course, there's no telling if the person who did the text on the cover followed the rules. | | | "I can picture in my mind a world without war, a world without hate.
