first, i see a lot of Contribs, that move a Company from the Studio to the Publisher field, instead of adding  the Publisher (didn`t find any Postings about this)
even, when there will be no Studio for Production (Friends - superbox Germany).
Mostly the people seems to just move the Studio in the last line to Publisher....

Second, for firefly, the new Contrib shows
Twenthies Century Fox Home Entertainment, old was 20th Century Fox Television/Home Entertainment.
Was there a discussion to change this? didn`t find any.
AFAIK the movie always shows: 20th Century Fox.....so the Contrib would be wrong here with the Company Name..

thanks for clarification.

The logo shows 20th but the company name is Twentieth which is what we use. Ken put in an automatic filter to change 20th to Twentieth.

Yeah, there was a big debate about changing it from 20th to Twentieth. Eventually Ken added a filter that makes it impossible to submit 20th. If I find it, I'll post a link to the thread.

Edit: found it, here.

Sorry, I didn't realise the first one was a question!
Ideally these people should be adding the publisher - the company responsible for the actual production of the DVD. In most cases this will be the same as the distributor (found in the studios list) so people are simply moving it into the new field.
If they are adding a publisher, this should be documented. I've seen too many contributions myself where the new publisher is not documented - from users who should know better!

It sounds like that Friends superbox is a multi-season boxset, and so is classed as a movie boxset. As such, only a publisher is valid for the profile. The child profiles should contain the studios. If I'm wrong about the superbox, my apologies.

The filter allows you to cintinue using 20th, it will change it to Twntieth for Online.

Call me lazy, it's less keystrokes and unlike some users I have absolutely mo interest in editing and re-diting essentially the same data just on some users whim. With 4000 plus owned Profiles and 7000+ Total, we have been using 20th for years and until somebody, not Ken, wants to pay me for my time, my data will REMAIN 20th.

...

Boxsets normally have only a "Media Publisher"-entry because the filmmaking studios are mentioned in the child-profiles of each containing disc/product.

btw. in the german profiler forum we try to collect the german publishers. URL

Do you mean changing all of them in your local database Skip? I just had the program automatically replace/convert all instances of 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment to Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment. One click updated them all.

I will admit that I thought it would be a lot of work when this first came up.  I was pleased to find out that it wouldn't be.  When I did the conversion, it took all of 2 seconds...if that.

Actually Kat it's more the principle of this BS making this sort of change based on some user's whim. This is NOT the first time nor do i expect it to be the last. Whch is why I have minimized my Contributions, just one of many reasons. There have been thousands of hours of work put into this and I will NOT edit and re-edit this week,m then re-edit the same data next week and so on, I think it disrespects ALL of the work to this point and that includes what I think of this PUBLISHER garbage, though it pleases me to see that it is not changing in reality.I have no patience nor appreciation for these user games, which only stands to reason since they have no appreciation for the work put forth and most of them don't make anywhere near the kind of contributions which I, for one have made for years.

The Superbox contains all 10 Seasons on 41 DVDs, but has no Seasons boxes for each.
so it`s all in one. AFAIK then the Box should contain the Information, since there is no separate Box to add the Information.

Yes, you're right, in that case all the studio information should be on the profile, not just the publisher.

Michael:

Have a look at my collection. "I Love Lucy: The Complete Series is set set up in a very similar format to your Friends set. Like yours just a bunch of discs no individual season packaging. It took me two weeks to set up.
You will find the parent listed withthe movies because I number TV Parents, the individual disc you will find at the bottom in alpha order as I do not number the individual disc within a TV Series

Thanks, Michael. I corrected that oversight. It sounds very much like the Lucy set, the cover you see Online is not the Cover of the Complete series and shouldn't be Online. The Disc ID is tied to the ORIGINAL release of the Individual seasons which had their own case. The ACTUAL set up for my local is the Parent profile Art RULES throughout, same would be true oif Friends based on your description. It's unfortunate but we do only deal with the ORIGINAL released artwork and I don't think the re-pressed the discs for new Disc IDs, though you never know, they probably simply repackaged them into one huge box and turned them loose.
