When downloading the profile for a movie box set, are all the child profiles suppose to be downloaded along with it or do I need to get those manually?
cause on every box set I have none have come with any child profiles. Have they just not been added in the ones I have or are the movies missing cause I havnt downloaded the individual movies?

and also, when adding a digipak box set.. for example, "The Ultimate Bourne Collection" digipak, which doesnt have any covers or overview for the individual movies. should they just be added without a cover and overview?

Well that all depends if the person (or people) that own those DVD's / Sets have uploaded the Child Profiles / Covers & overviews in the first place. As you may well be aware this is a user built database, so if a user who has purchased that particular set only feels like submitting the bear minimum data there is nothing compelling that user to supply all the data.

If you are using the latest version of the software AND if the child profiles are in the database online then provided the children are correectly assigned to the parent then when you download the Parent the prgram will ask if you want to download the children as well, you then choose yes or no as not everybody wants the child profiles.

okay, thanks for the response. Guess I dont own any box sets that people have added all movie profiles for.
I was just wondering if there was any point for me to add them or if they already were in there somewhere.
So I guess I have some work ahead of me

Automatic download of child profiles was only introduced in version 3.5. For any box sets you added to your collection earlier you will have to search manually for the child profiles.

Add by Title in the Add DVD dialogue is your best bet. You may have less work to do than you think.

Insert the disc in your PC and do "Add Inserted Disc" - should bring up any profiles entered under the disc ID.

Cast/crew/etc data for an individual film should only be on the child profile and not the boxset profile.

This is what I usually do, but I sometime run into trouble.
I have a box set for the Bourne Trilogy in digipak, so I put in the first movie (Bourne Identity) and added disc and I got prompted with the profile for the Bourne Supremacy, the second movie.

I've run into this several times. Can a movie have the same disc ID in another region than yours and still be totally different movie, or is this just an error in the original profile?

It sounds more likely that it's an error on the profile, although you can never say never!
Certainly across Europe and Scandanavia, you'll find that a lot of big releases (such as Bourne) are essentially the same disc (with the same ID) but in different labels and packaging.
If you think you've got the wrong profile, check the locality and if it doesn't match try searching by title instead - you may find the right profile better that way - there are sometimes "quirks" when you add by disc.

Edit: I've just looked at the Norwegian profile for the Ultimate Bourne Collection that you have (UPC: 5-050582-531565) and I can't see any problems with it - it has a full complement of child profiles all with cast & crew. Is this the one you're talking about?
If you've upgraded to 3.5 and are still having problems, I'd remove all your Bourne profiles (after making a note of any personal info you've added) and try adding it from scratch - it should ask you if you also want to download the 4 child profiles.

I had to delete my profile and add it from scratch, tried refreshing profile but nothing came up.
The child profiles are there, they are for the most part incorrect. But I can fix that and submit myself.

Is there not an easier way to see if a box set has gotten all the child profiles without deleting the current profile and re-adding it?

[EDIT]
okay, apparently I can add the UPC code again and see the preview if there has been a change in the box set contents.
It doesnt work with refreshing the profile though, I'll have to try it on some more to be absolutely sure.

[EDIT 2]
And what is the general rule for cover images in a box set with a digipak, these movies dont have any covers. Should they be left empty or just use the parent profile cover?

You use the images from the parent profile.

You use the images from the parent profile.

What about the movies themselves?
The movies in the digipak probably have the same disc ID as the stand alone releases of the movies, which isnt weird cause its the same movie.
If I change the profiles to fit the box set parent profile, will that ruin the stand alone movies?
I'm assuming they also have a UPC code...

If the boxset contains repackaged films, then unfortunately the existing cover scans have to stay on the profile. But locally you can replace them with the boxset scans if you think that looks better.

Also make sure you're looking at a Disc ID based profile for the movies. If the existing profile is attached to the UPC, then it's perfectly reasonable for you to create a new ID-based profile for the same disc, change the cover scans and release date etc. to match the boxset and submit that.

2 of the 4 discs in the set have UPC codes, which is incorrect since the disc in the box set have no UPC codes.
So I can remove the UPC code from those, change the profile to fit as a child profile with only disc-ID's on every disc and submit it?

If I understand you correctly, yes.
I'm at work so doing this from memory: in the DVD menu select Change UPC and with the movie disc in your PC, choose "Use Inserted Disc".
This will break the connection with the UPC profile (which will not be affected) and create a new ID-based profile. Check that it doesn't already exist in the database (I find the best way is to ask to Preview Changes and see if it finds anything), and if not, update it to match the disc in the boxset and submit to the database!

yes, that is what I was asking. Thank you for the response.
I've come across some more profiles like these, I was just wondering if it was correct. Since other box-sets I have were done as a child profile.

That just leaves one thing I guess, the overview. The Digipak slip cover for this box-set doesnt come with any overview for the movies.
Correctly, they should probably be left empty?

If there's no overview anywhere in the boxset, the rules allow you to write your own. From the rules:

"When there is no overview on the case, add a simple, self-written overview of 1-2 paragraphs. Do not include spoilers and always match the overview language to the profile's locality."

can I use the overviews taken from the stand alone release of the same movies?
