| Posted: | | | | Since 3.5 RC has no bug reporting thread of its own and we are such a tightly nit community ...
Several things in connection with collection numbers, one probably a bug:
- I have at least two DVDs assigned the same collection number [both show 356, one is a box set, one an individual DVD]. That shouldn't be. - How can I set a DVD to not get a number ['None']; I'd like to exclude the box set entry from numbering? - Why do I still have gaps in the numbering although I renumbered All? - Curiously two box sets that have been added in the wrong order [Series 1, Volume 1 and Series 1, Volume 2] sort correctly via Title but did not get renumbered as expected though I set everything accordingly. | | | Last edited: by Evo2Me |

This works for your local database too. For the gaps choose the partial reassignment, make sure that "eliminate gaps" is checked. | | | It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up! But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

I did not see the Collection Number and adjacent None check box because the DVD I used is in the Ordered list. For reasons not clear to me, the DVDs in this list get CNs assigned but do not have it on the Personalise screen.
Going to follow Goblins advice now.
[Edit] It has to be said: the bug is enterely in front of the computer monitor. It was my ineptitude. [/Edit] | | | Last edited: by Evo2Me |

I don't believe that Collection Number is a unique field. I have found it handy to give the same number more than once if I want to manually renumber some of my titles. If, for example, I want to renumber two of my profiles: Title From T0 Profile A Coll# 145 Coll#152 Profile B Coll# 152 Coll#145 I can do this easily by renumbering A to 152 (at which time I have 2 profiles numbered 152) and then renumbering Profile B to 145. This only takes 2 steps. If Profiler didn't allow two profiles to have the same collection number, it would take no less than 3 steps to accomplish. Remember, the unique key for our profiles is the UPC/EAN number (or DiscID or Manual ID#). There's no reason to make the collection number unique. | | | Another Ken (not Ken Cole) Badges? We ain't got no badges. We don't need no badges. I don't have to show you any stinking badges. DVD Profiler user since June 15, 2001 |
