I'm not sure what should be the common name for Sinéad Cusack.

"Sinéad Cusack" is credited in the following 67 titles (97 profiles), but:

"Sinead Cusack" is credited in the following 56 titles (124 profiles)

Which wins?

Odds are there are some incorrect entries among those profiles (same movie listed under both names).  If you have enough titles with her (?) in them you might be able to make a determination about which is more accurate.

Perhaps post a list of suspect titles here and others may be able to chime in for titles you don't have.
Bad movie?  You're soaking in it!

For the common name we use the title count (not the profiles).
Exception: If you can prove that the CLT is wrong.

So in this case it would be "Sinéad Cusack".

EDIT: But since Sinéad according to our CLT seems to have two different credits in V for Vendetta (plus local variants of this name) it's quite likely that the CLT is wrong here.
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

The only 2 titles I have with her in are Eastern Promises and V for Vendetta, both of which have credits in uppercase, so the accent wouldn't be used. In this case they are no help.

Both Wikipedia and The IMDb have her as Sinéad Cusack as does the BFI.

It doesn't matter what outside source has for a correct name. That will be no help at all since we only use most commonly credited name. If you have reason to believe the Credit Look-up tool is wrong all you can do is try to determine which is the most credited form.

For names in all caps Ken stated that you just do a straight forward lower case conversion... so if the upper case version uses an accent of any type... then you use the lower case with the accent. If the upper case version don't use an accent then you don't for the lower case either.

What a lot of people doe is post in the contribution forum asking for help determining the true most commonly credited form. Listing all the releases that the person seems to have appeared in and asking for help verifying how they are actually credited in each.

See HERE for an example.

As Pete says...completely irrelevant, especially IMDb.
