I recently made a submission of a new profile that was rejected for "An invalid source, such as a third party database" but I can not figure out what source was the bad one so I can correct it.

This is for UPC 013131-555493 "The Incredible Hulk Returns/The Trial of the Incredible Hulk" which is a re-release with both movies on a single DVD in a standard keep case.

My notes were:
Initial Contribution
Scans from covers
Overview from back cover
Cast and crew from existing approved profiles and spot checked.
Production and distribution companies from credits and DVD cover
Production year from earliest copyright
Which resulted in:

An invalid source, such as a third party database, was listed in the contribution notes. Use of a third party database is not allowed per the contribution rules.
The scans were original so not those
cast and crew from existing profile - Might be this.
Production and distribution companies from DVD + Case - Maybe.
Production year from earliest copyright - Don't think so as that is correct for TV releases I believe based on rules.

So I I think it is most likely either:

The use of the existing profiles (checked about 50% to make sure they were correct).  I initial doubted this since there are many discussions about cloning entries in the forums here for re-releases to use existing approved cast/crew.

I used both the DVD and case for validating the companies involved with the re-release.

Is there any way to help narrow it down so I can correct the submission?

Thanks

I have the old set that you probably used to copy the cast/crew from. In both movies there is an uncredited cast member. If you did not delete those that is probably why you got declined. If you want to keep them you must give documented proof they are in the movie. So what I would suggest doing is either trying to find documentation for the uncredited cast or removing them for contribution purposes at least.

To be honest, I see no obvious problems with your submission. One improvement I could suggest is that you include the UPCs of the profiles that you copied the cast & crew from.
You have to remember the screeners are only human and sometimes make mistakes, sometimes a re-submission is all it takes.

Edit: Pete's right - it's probably the uncredited cast.

Thanks for the help.

I'll double checked existing profiles for uncredited cast members and either find the documentation or remove them.  I'll also reference the UPCs for the existing profiles.

I would agree with Pete, I would also encourage to not simply spot check the cast and Crew but to actually verify it all for accuracy...all it takes is ONE error which you can completely miss in a spot check.
