Partial restore of manual profiles |

| | Posted: | | | | I got a 50-movie pack recently where each movie can't be profiled with Disc-ID, so I'd have to do manual profiles. I have a a few of those. Now a friend did all the work and created the manual profiles needed for each individual movie. I asked him a copy, he gladly made a backup of them and sent them to me. I was so happy to not have to do 50 profiles myself, so I proceeded to do a partial restore of his profiles to my own database.
What a mess...
DVD Profiler dutifully proceeded in overwriting most of my already existing manual profile with the new data! Simple to explain: They had the same ID (Manual#1, Manual#2, etc.)
Can someone explain to me, why DVD Profiler profiler treats a Manual ID exactly the same as if it was a UPC?
It seems the logical thing to do would be "You already have another profile using this ID, what would you like to do?" With the option to skip, overwrite or generate a new ID. Especially if I'm doing a partial restore! |

Restore your backup, change your manual profiles in your local database so the manual ID's no longer match and do then a restore of the other manual profiles. | | | | Sources for one or more of the changes and/or additions were not submitted. Especially if I'm doing a partial restore! The problem with dvdprofiler is that you cannot change a manual ID (Manual#1, Manual#2, etc.). you can clone your manual profiles to other manual ID's, then you restore the other manual profiles in to your local DB. Which is way too much work for what it's worth. So I'll be going surfeur's way, fake UPC. Not that I like it, but it's the fastest way. I still think either DVD Profiler should ask what to do with manual profiles when doing a PARTIAL restore, or, allow us to assign new manual ID easily, instead of having to go the fake UPC way. |
