| Posted: | | | | My database did include 148 DVDs. Three weeks ago I had a bad PC crash, but since the backup was kept on a separate hard drive, I felt relieved that I wouldn't have to start from scratch after I reinstalled the software. Wrong. After I got DVD Profiler back on my computer, I went through the motions of restoring the database. And to my astonishment, nowhere could any backup be found. Oh, there was indeed items with the DVD gold logo on them (I kept several backups, just to be safe, in different files), but none of them would the program accept. And what alternatives have I for this? Do I get to stumble back to Square One? |

| Posted: | | | | Backup files should have a .dpb file suffix, check that the files you're trying to restore have this file suffix. Also, how are you trying to restore? Are you using "Restore Database" from the File menu, or are you double-clicking on the files? When you try and restore these files, and you say the program won't accept them, exactly what is the error message you get?
Edit: one other thing I just thought of - were you running the beta version (3.5) when you were doing the backups? Cos they won't be accepted by 3.1, you'll have to restore back into the beta. | | | Last edited: by northbloke |

You have to do a bit of manual work with Purchase Places and Loan Due. If you need this, PM me, and I will walk you through it. | | | Thanks for your support. Free Plugins available here. So 3.5 will reinstall 3.1 but not vice versa? right? ( 3.1 won't reinstall 3.5 backup (.dpb) .. ) | | | In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird. I did some testing and tried to restore a 3.5 database into 3.1 and got an error message saying something about how the file had been created in a different version of Profiler and couldn't be restored. However 3.1 backups seem to open in 3.5 fine. |

The alternative you have and others too is the ability to back up on a device that would Never fail, the Invelos site itself.. You were so worried that the site may be insecure and your collection would be prone to hackers is Untrue, it is only a reflection of your titles and does not contain any security risks at all. | | | In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird. | Posted: | | | | I have a similar issue. Except i did back it up on the net as well. however, when synchronized the online backup to my new computer none of the artwork displays. I get that image not available shield.
And i can't seem to do anything with the backups i saved on my external drive. They don't seem to be recognized.
Any suggestions? |

Any suggestions? For the images, did you try the Refresh All Images option in the Online menu option? | | | The night is calling. And it whispers to me soflty come and play. |

For the images, did you try the Refresh All Images option in the Online menu option? Yeah I just figured that out and was going to come here and say that i figured it out... but thanks very much for the tip. If I hadn't figured it out I would have appreciated it. |

It was the one thing I figured out when I had the problem myself (still feeling my way around the entire system) so I thought I'd pass on the ONE bit of knowledge I've gained so far! Glad you were able to get your images back! | | | The night is calling. And it whispers to me soflty come and play. |
