Does anyone know why DVD Profiler tries to connect to the Internet whenever it's started?

Just a guess, but that's where all the profiles are stored, so in order for you to add DVDs to your collection, it would need to be connected to the Internet.

To check if there is an internet connection for the online features?
For the welcome screen feature(s) ?

@Giga

that's it probably, but then again it just tries to download the profile list anyways, no matter if one is online or not... what good is a check if the result isn't used?

never been in that situation, allways online here and with a profile list.
if these files are not present, the program tries to download them:
OnlineList.dod & OnlineListSel.dod (location: C:\Documents and Settings\Giga Wizard\Application Data\DVD Profiler
Giga Wizard would be the login used in XP. If those files are present it stops trying to download? I think.

the files are present and a collection is loaded, it's my normal running installation

I only noticed it today because my network cable wasn't plugged into my notebook, it tried to open a connection. Kinda irritating to tell the truth because there just isn't a good reason to do so.

I don't think it's checking for updates either cause I never got such a notice in the past.
