Hi

I just bought a swedish DVD (U.S. Marshals - EAN 7321937156251). This is already entered in the database, but with a different cover. My cover has swedish text but the cover already in the database (same EAN and country) has english text.

Any guidelines for this?

The cover already in the database is clearly also swedish, since it says "Not for rent" in swedish on the back side.

Yes, the contribution rules say:
"If a title is re-released with the same UPC, but different cover images do not contribute the new images. This includes cases where a DVD was initially released in a slipcase, which was later removed. As explained in the introduction you may use your personal images in your local database, but they will not show online. "

Does everything else about the profile match the disc you bought? I.e. does it have the same subtitles, language tracks, features, etc?

If it does, you should treat your cover the same way we do re-releases. Meaning you can't submit it, but you can obviously scan it and keep it local only. I'd suggest locking it.

Many early Warner releases in snapper cases usually only had a sticker with the Swedish ratings etc. on the back of an English language cover. When they were re-released in keep cases, they were also often updated with Swedish covers. Unfortunately, the EAN stayed the same so the original release should still be in the database.

You can contribute using Disc ID but that is not the purpose of this feature. Disc IDs should be used when there is no EAN/UPC such as in a box set. Since the Disc ID is already part of the original release, it should not be used for these re-releases and it might also conflict with existing or future box set releases.
