| Posted: | | | | (This is the Blu-Ray disc) Iron Man: Ultimate 2-Disc Edition Defective--->UPC: 097361385747 New "Fixed": UPC: 097361385709
The Defective disc was recalled from retailers before release date. Retailers were asked to return all supplies. New "Fixed" discs were supplied to all retailers before release date. Some retailers jumped the gun and mailed defective copies to customers before the release date.
My question is that after submitting Iron Man with the Fixed UPC code in DVD profiler as an initial contribution, I found out after the fact that another person has submitted an initial before mine. Should I just leave my submission or cancel it?

| Posted: | | | | If those UPCs are true then that worries me a bit. The version I got from Amazon has the 709 UPC label just slapped over top of the 747 UPC thats on the jacket.
I wonder if they were just sent new physical discs that they replaced inside the keepcase or if they were supposed to ship back the entire thing.
I guess I'll have to test mine when I get home. | | | "Rules are for the obedience of fools and the guidance of wise men" - Douglas Bader "A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools." - Douglas Adams |

Should I just leave my submission or cancel it? Up to you whether to withdraw or leave it. I was the one who slipped in ahead of you and i note mine was just approved. I took all the info from the original UPC and rechecked the Cast/Crew/etc. I found one typo in the Cast (Actor Name - don't remember which off the top of my head) and corrected that before submitting. If you didn't catch any errors you might be stepping on that fix. I wonder if the replacement Disc IDs will be different. | | | Bad movie? You're soaking in it! |

| Posted: | | | | Ah, I have the defective Blu-Ray... Great. Best Buy didn't send their back then.
Well, I got it to work on my PS3 by disabling the internet connection. | | | Last edited: by Dr. Killpatient |

I guess I'll have to test mine when I get home. I recently started to process defectives at work and what happens sometimes is that manufacturers will actually issue a return to vendor, but have it destroyed at the store. So I'm guessing is that Paramount issued an RTV for the defective discs and either they were pulled off the shelves and destroyed store level or sent back with a pre-paid shipping label after the new ones arrived and some could have been missed. As for the UPC sticker, it's cheaper to slap a sticker on, than to re-print all the covers. | | | We're on a mission from God.

Well, I got it to work on my PS3 by disabling the internet connection. Does it fail immediately or at a certain point into the film? I've only played mine in PowerDVD so far, haven't dropped it into the PS3 yet. | | | Bad movie? You're soaking in it! |

Well, I got it to work on my PS3 by disabling the internet connection. I also got mine from Best Buy, the new UPC number was on the shrink wrap not on the case. The old UPC was still on the cover so if you rip off the shrink wrap you may not know which UPC you purchased. |

FYI: The corrected versions have a blue Disc-1 = (Feature film) and a gray Disc-2, on the uncorrected version both discs are gray. Also FYI: There is a minor audio issue (Low volume & Bass @ normal volume levels.) for people who don't have their players set to correct the problem. On some receivers and on the PS3, Dynamic Range Compression must be set to "off", not "auto" because the disc is encoded to engage DRC on decoders that have this feature set to "auto". Both uncorrected and corrected versions of the disc have this glitch.Paul | | | Last edited: by Paul Hillenbrand |

| Posted: | | | | Correct - disconnecting the internet corrects the issue with the faulty version. Upon loading, you see a blue circle animation that doesn't go away with an internet connection but it does go away after a couple seconds without one. |

| Posted: | | | | This is from Digital BitsQuote: The big thing so far today, is that a LOT of people are e-mailing to report problems with the playback of Paramount's Iron Man Blu-ray Disc on the Sony PS3 (and other Sony BD players we hear - the reason is the same, so please read on). As a result, we're getting a lot of people saying that the defective disc wasn't recalled after all (as reported last week), and they must have a bad one, etc. Here's the deal: From what we're told, the disc ISN'T defective. What's happening is that the Sony PS3 (and other Sony players) automatically downloads some of the BD-Live content from the studio servers the first time you boot up the disc. And it appears that Paramount initially underestimated the server load - thousands of people got their discs home yesterday, booted up their PS3s and then experienced long, long wait times while the disc loaded, making it look like the disc had frozen up and wouldn't play. But this morning, the problem appears to be resolving, as server loads are easing. (The studio tells me: "capacity was expanded dramatically last night and local servers were established worldwide to accommodate all the fans.") If you're still having troubles with Disc One of the Iron Man BD playing on your PS3, go into your system set-up menu and temporarily set BD-Live to 'prompt' or 'disable'. Then the disc should boot up fine. Wait a few hours (to allow server loads to ease more), and then restore your BD-Live setting. It might take a few minutes, but all the BD-Live content will download and your disc should work just fine after that. If the problem continues over the next few days - which it shouldn't - we'll get a customer service number for you from the studio. You might also want to take the opportunity to update your player firmware, to make sure you're fully compatible - just FYI. | | | We're on a mission from God.

| Posted: | | | | I saw that report on digital bits also, but have not have time to start mine yet to verify.
Hopefully major releases from now on know they need major capacity for BD-live the first week or so. | | | Last edited: by berg0449 |
