| Posted: | | | | Hiya, I/m after a simple way to quickly view my DVD's out on loan, I have tried a quick forum search and ended up finding a report in 'get more reports' functions. however I could see this getting really messy when I have a vast amount loaded. only 30 odd so far!! would benice to have a button that would just display all the loans *only* without all the excess like green for available yellow for out and red for overdue. just give up all loans only. cheers in advance. and hope I have posted to the right place. | Posted: | | | | cheers for that. now just one...!! more question. How do I sync all the different installs I have? the 'loading' version will be on the lappy downstairs, the 'using' version will be upstairs on my main PC. would like to be able to see at a glance the same info on both installs. so as I add downstairs it will be the same upstairs. I assume I am missing something, cos I have checked all the d/l sections I can find. |

| Posted: | | | | That sounds complicated! There's a couple of ways to do it, but none are easy or ideal for your purpose. If you have a home network set up, best solution I can think of is to house your database on a network drive that both your laptop and your PC can access. However, if you do this you MUST NOT have both Profilers open at the same time as this will corrupt your database. Another option is to house your database on a portable drive (like a USB stick) which you can move between laptop and PC easily. However, this means remembering where you left it! One more way of doing it is to use the backup facility. So you would add DVDs on the laptop, back up to a file, then restore that file on your PC. But this would mean making very, very sure that you're replacing the right database and not overwriting info. Last option is a variant on that idea, and it is to use the online collection as a medium. So you would add DVDs, upload to Profiler online, then download from Profiler Online onto the other machine. But again you'd have to make sure you're not overwriting data you need and this way won't backup personal cover scans. Personally, I'd like to see a "Sync" option added to Profiler (and not just to the mobile version) - that would be ideal! | | | Last edited: by northbloke |

Personally, I'd like to see a "Sync" option added to Profiler (and not just to the mobile version) - that would be ideal! This is how I manage my database between work and my home PC predominantly. I have had a few problems with overwriting data and images, but this has now more or less stopped now since I am extra careful nowadays! Plus the download and upload options when synchronising both show a timestamp and computer name of the last upload so you can tell which was the latest version. *This works as long as the two machines are named differently, which would be the case if both were part of the same network. Another tool that I also use is the DVDProfiler Mobile, but this generally happens when buying in-store as opposed to online and therefore I only sync with my Work PC. |

I thought you could have both data bases open,, as both are 'central' and not talking to each other... ?? | | | In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird. | Posted: | | | | I'd imagine that this is simple File IO, since both applications would be accessing the same DB file which would cause conflicts. That is, if DVD Profiler doesn't check for other processes accessing the file, which I wouldn't know since I have not tried. |

| Posted: | | | | Boyce is right - the two Profilers are not talking to each other, however they are both talking to the same files on the network drive. So if you edit a profile on one PC while the the same profile is accessed on the other PC, or if you're adding profiles on one PC and then close the database, and the other Profiler already has the same database open - when that database is closed, the additions could be lost. |

| Posted: | | | | Exactly.., and that is why the best way to run Invelos is to always have one PC only connected to the network for updates , downloads, uploads and storage.. where the other PC or program (running silently) , is just for referance only.. and that referance mode should only be updated to the saved .dpb on the flash stick or HD .. You want Two databases independant, either operate seperatley or get two licences. right? | | | In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird.
