Unless my contribution is still visible in whatever Ken & Gerri use to view contributions, the following scenario removes contributions that are still in the voting stage:

1. User makes changes and contributes a profile, fills out info and clicks Submit on the web side
2. Before the previous submission has been approved, user contributes the same profile again, but this time clicks Cancel on the web side. Meaning the contribution is never submitted.

From what I can tell on my list of contributions, the above made it so my latest contribution for The Matrix: Reloaded got its Profile and Image status columns erased, and the votes reset to zero. The profile is also no longer visible in the All Pending Updates view.

If you look at the contribution notes history of the profile my notes from step 1 above are still there.

I'm not sure if it's a bug or a feature.
By this way you can easily correct uploads that contain faults.

Scenario: You contribute a profile and later realize that you've made a mistake.
You correct the mistake and contribute again without having to wait until it gets accepted (or declined). All users that have already voted on this contribution would have to vote on it again.
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

Sure, that's a useful feature if you press Submit under #2 above. But pressing Cancel still makes the old contribution disappear, when I think it would be more useful if it simply cancelled and left the old contribution alone.

If the current result is entirely by design I'm curious to know the reasoning behind it. If I want to make a contribution go away I can just use Withdraw.

I think as soon as you re-Contribute a profile any existing and unapproved profile update is eliminated.  Pressing Cancel didn't eliminate it, the simple act of Contributing again did.
Bad movie?  You're soaking in it!

Well, yeah, that's my point.

Although since I cancelled, I didn't contribute it. Had I actually pressed submit, then there would've been a contribution and not so strange for it to eliminate the previous pending one.

It's the fact that I didn't end up contributing something, yet still erased the previous contribution, that is the entire reason for this bug report.

I somehow doubt it's a feature, as there is also the option to withdraw a contribution you've made.

My point was as soon as i click the Contribute button and the data is uploaded the (not-yet-Submitted) basic Profile update info is visible to myself on My Contributions page, replacing any version that hasn't been approved.

I was simply trying define what happens a little better.  As it stands it's too late as soon as the upload starts.

I know it happens so i don't touch the Contribute button in the program till i know a prior submission is released.  I never considered it a bug but simply "The Way Things Are"

I can understand your perspective though.

Yeah, if one is aware then it is naturally easier to avoid.

In my case, I wasn't aware, and even if I had been it wouldn't have helped as I thought an entirely different profile was highlighted when I clicked to contribute it. It wasn't until I got to the website portion of the contribution process that I realized my mistake, and by then it is too late.
