| Posted: | | | | Good day, Sirs,
by rule of thumb there are about 1.3 billion chinese.
But every time I try to enter one of their names, eg ???, all DVDProfiler shows are three ??? (one ? for each part of the name).
Why? How do you enter chinese names as credited?

| Posted: | | | | It's not possible where the credits are in kanji, as DVDP does not support Unicode. We must enter them as credited as far as the English/Western translation allows | | | It is dangerous to be right in matters where established men are wrong |

| Posted: | | | | There is a thread trying to unify the entries of chinese / asian names. But since it seems quite difficult for the average non-asian to distinguish between first, last and middlename correctly and the fact that some films even are crediting the names in western style doesn't make this easier at all. So for me it's usually the "enter as credited"-variant means the actor credited as Ng /Tim / Yip will be entered that way even though the correct entry might be Tim / Yip / Ng. OK, I'll go into hiding now. | | | It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up! But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

OK, I'll go into hiding now. Goblins: It actually has nothing to do with anything other than Hollywood puts the names up On Screen in a particular fashion and we copy it. Its that simple. In these cases the program is forcing us to follow Western culture rather than follow the correct data. |

Love, bbbbb No he is not, bbbb. He is merely stating a fact, PROFILER does not support Unicode nor til recently did Delphi. So there is hope that per haps one day this may come. But Profiler, as of right now, has not and never has supported Unicode and this includes kanji. Skip | | | ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!! CBE, MBE, MoA and proud of it. Outta here

Skip Wrong - how? Argumentative - because I call you on an inaccuracy? Program limitation or not, we are forced to adapt these names into a western format. Strange how your constant demands to enter exactly what we see on screen suddenly vanishes when we're no longer talking about the english alphabet. |

| Posted: | | | | Oh please don't think that I'm trying to debate with you, Skip. I'm just making sure that newer, less-experienced users don't fall under the misapprehension that you know what you're talking about. |

I am simply trying to make sure that newer, less experienced uysers think you have anything to bring toany discussion besides venom and combativemess. Or think that you have even a clue about what you are talking about.
In short take your attitude and stuff it somewhere, but keep it out of here. i am tired of seeing your garbage.
Unlike you, north I do not travel the forums looking for something you have said that I can pick another fight with. I don't like to fight, nor your attitude, but I will not shrink from one either. Some users seem to think they know more and understand more than they actually do, that does mean you north. I don't presume to judge or Know and understand you, but you ceratinly seem to, I suggest that what you know is about as close to zero about me as you can get and your assumptions are ALWAYS wrong and will ALWAYS be wrong.
You clearly have adopted some sort of personal issue with me, why and on what basis you believe you have to support your outrageous behavior is beyond me, not do i care. Just lose it, because whatever you have built is not based on any reality but house of cards of your own imagining, I bear you no ill will at all, nor anyone else in these forums.
