Is this a stage name? i have him in 3 titles in 2 his name is parsed Professor Toru//Tanaka in the other Professor Toru Tanaka// checking the CLT there are some that have parsed it Professor/Toru/Tanaka which I'm fairly sure is wrong.

I think Wikipedia gives you the Answer (Statistics window)
Ring name(s)
Professor Toru Tanaka
Professor Tanaka
this would mean Stage name

Since we handle stage names which look like ordinary names the same way as real names (think John//Wayne, Marylin//Monroe), I would enter him as Professor Toru//Tanaka.

Rules Cast:
Quote:
  • If an actor name is only a first name or stage name enter it entirely in the first name field. Examples are Cher, Madonna, Cedric the Entertainer & Queen Latifah.

  • seems to dictate otherwise?

If he were credited simply as Toru Tanaka I would agree.

However, the Professor part aligns it more closely with the likes of "Queen Latifa".

I'd enter it entirely in the first name field.

Stage names from the golden age exempt.
Rappers get stuck with the stage name, legends become their stage name.

I would treat it the same as 'Cedric The Entertainer', meaning 'Gypsy Rose Lee/ / '.

If the "Professor" would have been an academic title wouldn't it be more correct to parse him Toru/ /Tanaka [Professor Toru Tanaka]?
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

Only if 'Toru Tanaka' is his most credited name.  If it isn't, it would be 'Professor Toru/ /Tanaka'.

Professor Toru // Tanaka is how I have him in both Last Action Hero and The Running Man.

Just another reason why name parsing should be eliminated but I know it's a futile request...
