| Posted: | | | | Good evening Sirs, this topic is about John Woo. Hard Boiled. Cast. Tony. According to the rules here is our main source of information: End Credits SnapshotThe second entry is Leung Chiu-Wai (Leung being the surname, and a two-part given name). To make it a little more complicated the actor is also mentioned in the opening credits: Opening Credits SnapshotSo Leung Chiu-Wai, and the extra western stage name Tony Leung (obviously Leung being the surname in either instance). At the present the actor is in the database as Tony Leung Chiu Wai. Which is actually a mix between his credited chinese name (twice) and credited western name (once). What do you think Tony should be credited as? Love, bbbbbb | | | Don't confuse while the film is playing with when the film is played. [Ken Cole, DVD Profiler Architect] |

| Posted: | | | | Easy: From the rules: Quote: Cast
For the purposes of this section we define "standard" film credits as those where all credited actors involved are listed together in a single section at the end of the film - defined here as the "end credits".
[...]
Some actors may be credited a second time in either credits at either the opening or close of the film.
For any film with standard credits, take the actor information from the end credits only, with names and roles listed exactly as they are in the credits and in exactly the same order credited. [Bolding by me] Correct the cast entry to that from the end credits, if you happen to find proof for his real name and it matches the CLT entries as well, use the credited as field as well to reflect that information. | | | Lutz | | | Last edited: by Darxon |

Due to the fact that he is often confused with fellow actor Tony Leung Chiu-Wai, Tony Leung Ka-Fai is known as "Big Tony", while Tony Leung Chiu-Wai is known as "Short Tony", nicknames which correspond to the actors' respective physical statures. | | | Last edited: by tarantino |

He should be credited as Tony Leung, as shown in the opening credits. Because that's the only credits written in English. But feel free to use Tony Leung Chiu Wai for the Common name |

But it seems not to be possible to enter the real name as credited. If I do so, eg ???, DVDProfiler shows three ???, one ? for each part of the name. This might be a technical issue, I'll ask there. Since when do we use for cast entries some name, an actor currently likes to be addressed as?! At least (if we can not enter his name as credited for technical limitations), and we do not want to use the western name which is shown in the opening credits of the specific movie, we should at least use the correct transfer of his chinese name. Or not? Which in this case would be Leung Chiu Wai, a three part name, without Tony far and wide. | | | Don't confuse while the film is playing with when the film is played. Which in this case would be Leung Chiu Wai, a three part name, without Tony far and wide. The correct adaption of his "common name" to the western style would probably be "Chiu Wai / Tony / Leung". But that's just a guess, supported by my sister-in-law who studies chinese. But for your credits it would be either Chiu Wai / / Leung (which would be the correct adaption) or Leung / / Chiu Wai (which would be "as credited"). | | | It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
