When you use DVD Player Software, select the subtitles you get this choice:
English 1 (normal subtitle)
English 2
French 1 (normal subtitle)
Dutch 1 (normal subtitle)
Arabic (normal subtitle)
Hindi (normal subtitle)
French 2
When you go in the sub title setup menu of this DVD it reads:
English
English
For the Hearing Impaired
Français
Nederlands
so I change the contribution with following contribution note:
Subtitles: Other (+) (Powerdvd) (English for the hearing impaired)
2 users are now voting No: HoH is not Other Subtitles | | | | Sources for one or more of the changes and/or additions were not submitted. Please include the sources for your changes in the contribution notes, especially for cast and crew additions. | | | | Last edited: by ? |

If you classify it as Other, then how do you handle it if there is no "normal" English subtitles but only a HOH subtitle. Would you still enter it as Other? I don't think so. So should we enter it differently depending on if there is an ordinary English subtitle or not? That seems to be a path towards confusion... | | | My freeware tools for DVD Profiler users.

| | Posted: | | | | As long as we don't have a subtitle system where we can store the language and type of a subtitle, we have to enter the language for any subtitle which can be used understand the movie (normal full subtitle, heard of hearing) and the type for any other (commentary, trivia, partial subtitle). Therefore I would enter an English heard of hearing subtitle as English and not as other.
BTW. This is the second poll were I could not select any of the given selections because none of them is appropriate. I miss the 'something else' option. |

But since hard of hearing subtitles can be used as normal subtitles as well, we list them with their language (in this case English). There have been made several feature requests thought for subtitles and audio track to have a separate language and type field (e.g. normal English, commentary German etc.) |

Skip Sorry Skip, I'm not a mind reader. I don't know what you think is appropriate. Since the OP asked about English or Other you could just have said English and there would have been no ambiguity.
